Wicked Twister Down Alot

i think there is something Cedar point ain't telling us about all the problems and the Maintenece work being done on it.

Well of course there's something they're not telling us. Cedar Point tells us nothing about their maintenence--nothing more than 'technical difficulties.' As well they shouldn't, because they don't want to start rumors. All we know is that WT is a new ride, and there's a significant amount of down time. And the heavy reliance on computer technology probably doesn't make it easier for them. But the reasons for the down time no one knows but the employees fixing the problem.

Of course they haven't told you about the cracks in Magnum, Corkscrew, Mantis, Raptor, Millennium Force, and probably others. Does that mean they aren't safe? Absolutely not. I have no clue what the statisitics are, but I'd venture to guess that most steel coasters have some sort of crack in them. I'd also venture to guess that CP is as good or better than most parks at fixing them.

I have been to CP twice this year and Wicked twister was running great both times
I've been lucky as well. I was able to get several rides on WT on each of my two trips. Same with MF. I know both coasters were down at various points on the second trip, but they were only down for a couple hours at most.

Twister was SBNO all day today. They were working on the track just above the supports on the rear spike. The power cords for the equipment they were using were still leading up to the maintenance platform when we left.

yea i saw that today.....i think its somthing serious....they were working on it yesterday too....i just hope everything is ok with it and its not in danger.

Blah, remeber the crack in Raptor's Cobra Roll? Was it a problem? No

How about the bumb at the bottom of the drop on raptor this year which most likely is a stress fracture, is that a problem? No

I would say 90 percent of all coasters have some sort of stress fracture or another. WT is no different. I still say that just as much tower is above the supports on V2 and S:UE and they do not have a problem.

Whatever the deal is I doubt it is horribly Major and I fully expect WT to be operating during Coaster Mania.

Welcome back Magnum riders how was your ride?

I agree, If this was serious I think they would say something that it will be down for some time similar to what they did when MF"s cable snap. Of course they wouldn't say what's actually wrong with it, just that it will be down. Hopefully I will be riding it tomorrow. :)

The Spot they were working on (from my POV anyway) was not even the rails where it rides on but the back of the track. When it is fixed I doubt we will feel anything diffrent.

A co-worker went to CP yesterday (4th) and WT was down all day (he stayed until closing). He also noticed maintenance working on the platform of the rear tower. He asked one of the employees who told him that WT does indeed "have a large enough problem that it will be down for several days while they fix it".

With Coastermania on Friday, I would think CP would rather keep WT down until whatever is going on it fixed in time for Coastermania.

As you can see now....on the webcam...there is somebody on top of the platform near the rear spike working on it.....again....This is the third day this has been goign on.

The WT was down today again...as far as i know

i hope its nothing serious

Welcome To New York City

They've been working on it for the past few hours. They also were pounding the spot with a hammer!

They shut off the webcam so people wouldn't see what is going on with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!......this is really annoying...Cedar point should say what is going on...they can't just leave us in the dark.

Welcome To New York City

It's a new ride. Think about how much testing it really got before it opened. Now that it has been open a month and running all day every day for the entire time it probably needs some work. I bet it will be ready by Friday.

Perhaps it's time for you to shut down the computer and do something else for awhile...

It's kind of obvious what's going on.

One of the things they told us in training is if the ride is down, never tell them what really is going on, even if you know. Guests tend to blow things out of proportion. For example, if Raptor went down because they needed to change a wheel, that really isn't too big of a deal. But, to guests that may be frightning or scary.

If Cedar Point told guests about everything that went on, some people may get turned away from the park or rides. Most people don't know that all of that maintainence goes on. It's normal to us but it maybe not to others.

Yeah, just think of how freaked out most of the GP would be if they were told that WT's track is cracked on the rear spike... ah I could see it now, "hey, did you hear that the spike on Wicked Twister broke off while a train was on it?". It could even beat "Magnum is sinking".

They had a sign out today that WT would open later in the day. That was not to be. :( At least that may be a good sign. Even after close they were welding the back tower and the guy was even banging on it with a hammer which was like something out of Rollercoaster Tycoon. I think Intamin may be here because they guy working on it later was not in CP maint. garb.

I e-mailed cedar point and am awaiting a reply....hopefully they won't leave me in the dark about this
Right. Let us know when you get that response. I am anxiously anticipating that response myself. Just remember, when you get no reply, just hit send/receive again, and when you still get no response, repeat step 1.
