Wicked Twister Down Alot

i don't know but i've noticed that the wicked twister is down WAAYYYY too much....i went to cedar point 3 times this year and out of the 3 times, twice the wicked twister was down during my trips...once it was down all day...and the other time it was down like for most of the day....but also i watch the webcams...i see that its down alot.....did anybody else notice this

You can't really go by the webcams - realize that it takes about the same time to load the train in the station as it does for the ride to run a full cycle (right?), so you basically have a 50% chance of catching it. And the thing is, since the webcam always updates exactly one minute apart, if the train is loading in one pic, it will likely be loading again in the next.

Webcams probably haven't been a good indication as WT has had extremely short lines (on the ramp) on a bunch of days. Considering the horror stories I've heard about downtime on the other impulses, I don't think it's been too bad.

Also, it's even less than a 50% chance of catching it on the webcam because you most likely would only see it if the train is on the spikes. The vertical part is difficult to see.

well thats true about the webcam thing...but on some days i couldn't catch it at all....usually on days that its up i tend to catch it once in a while. but some times i don't at all...and now that the webcam has moved....i could see both spikes and most of the ride.
When it was at it's former location it was easy to tell if it was down based on nobody going through the line.

A big problem may be the alignment of the Fins or LIMS. It continued to bang a lot today yet they were still running it. It was up all day today it seemed.

yea i heard about that...and also the thing about the train missing the station and the them having to reset the computer or somthing...thats a big problem with the wicked twister

Well, it's a brand new ride, what do you expect? I know it's an already proven concept, but there are just too many variables to make things go smoothly from day one. I've been to the park many times and Wicked Twister has never been down, but that doesnt mean it never breaks down. You've been to the park 3 times and it's broken down everytime, but that doesn't mean it breaks down all the time. Over time, the little kinks will be worked out and Wicked Twister will be as reliable as the old veterans already gracing the midways.

I've been there just once this year, and it was down a few times, but only for a few minutes. They tested it, and opened up the station again, while everyone cheered!
maybe it was just my luck...but out of the 3 times i been there this year 2 times it was down....one time it was down all day...and then one time it was down most of the day.

It is true that Wicked Twister is not nearly as popular as expected. It's downtime is due to the sway (read my post under "It Sways!"). I work there, and we had provisions for handling all of the people, we were prepared for a line down the midway on the weekends, and the queues haven't even been filled yet.

its not only because it sway....i also heard that the computer screws up alot when the train does not pull into the station right or somthing like that....that is also a big problem...i also noticed that both the millenium force and the WT have computer problems...just like a week ago the red train got stuck at the top of the hill and was up there for like a 45 minutes....i heard it was because the computer thought it was at the station....i think its something with the intamin computers
I'm having a hard time believing that WT's downtime is due to "the sway." Also, don't think that those queues won't be filled in the middle of the summer. The crowds will be building over the next several weeks. There has only been a couple days so far where crowd level has been close to mid-summer.

yea...its not because it sway....like i said before...i think its the computer...they still need to work out the bugs
It is most definitely not because of the sway, the sawy is totally and perfectly normal. Out of te 3 times I have been there this spring it was down for 5 minutes about once.

Magnum Force, read what Zane said in the "It sways" topic to see what he's talking about with the sway problem. As for downtime, out of 5 trips I've had, it has had much less downtime then MF. However, it was down for the first half of the day today, but was running smoothly by 3:00 or so.

To the people in front of me: "No, those towers aren't supposed to sway like that. I think you should leave the line right now."
VertiGo: now known as Verti-Picnic Tables.

I have read it and I belive it is malarkey, if this were to be the case why haven't SUE or V2 developed problems? Just as much track is above the supports on these as it is on WT.

i was at Six flags, Ohio...a few days ago....i saw pretty much the same swaying as i did on the wicked twister.

Welcome to New York City

I believe WT is down alot too......every time I have went this year(4xs) it has either been down most of the day or it up for a while and down again and today(June 3rd) it was down all day....never opened once.

At the turn of the Millenium......there were signs...

i think there is something Cedar point ain't telling us about all the problems and the Maintenece work being done on it.

I'd be more concerned about MF if you like talking conspiracy theories concerning breakdowns...
