My personal theory is that they will be building a new flume ride in the back of the park and possibly removing the current one in order to improve both areas. But that is a complete guess on my part for sh*ts and giggles.
Rides (ok, Mr. Hyde's Fear Fall and Head Spin namely) have had a lot of downtime according to some places, and many rides aren't opening on time (Big Dipper opened at 4:00 when I was there, and there are many instances in Trip Reports I have read where rides don't open till the afternoon). If they can fix this problem, they're running a very nice park.
The employees
1) Don't seem motivated
2) Are too frequent on smaller rides
3) Are too minimal on larger rides
To give an example of #3 there, there were 5 or 6 guys working on the cars, around 10 on Big Dipper, but only 2 on Raging Wolf Bobs.
Yeah, the park needs some work on the former Sea World side, but that's all going to happen eventually. Cedar Fair finally has a bundle of land that's already been started upon with a successful park, and I'm sure they're going to milk it for all it's got.

There goal is to make money. Money comes with thrill rides- bigger, faster, better. They will definately be building thrill rides every couple of years or so, while still improve the family atmosphere. If you have both- thrill rides and family rides, you can attract all types of guest and as more people come, GL will build bigger, better rides.
I would expect CF to make some major improvements next year, since this is the first year that they can actually "work" with the park.
As for the hypercoaster, I don't know where this idea came from, but I like the idea. ;)

The helix is great! Oh, and the nice, wide, roomy trains. I love those things! =)

What about Togo? Manhattan Express in Las vegas is an interesting hyper. It has inversions and isn't an out and back which would be a nice change for the area. It would be something different.
If you thought that ride was good, head (a lot) farther east and you'll find a Togo that's much better...Except I think they're out of business too.

I've been on a couple of Morgan hypers (Steel Force and Phantoms Revenge) and have to say they're pretty good. I like the idea of them using retractable seatbelts (like the ones in your car) on their trains. One thing I would say, if it is a Morgan, don't have a big mid-course brake run that slows the train down like it does on Steel Force. Never been on a B&M hyper, but from what people say, they're everything that they are made to be.
"What we do in life, echos in eternity."
Top 3 Wooden Coasters: The Voyage, Thunderhead, The Raven.
Top 3 Steel Coasters: Griffon, Magnum XL-200, Apollo's Chariot.
B&M has that "gentle" air and a smooth, controlled ride experience. That's fine if you like to pretend you are swooping around in an airplane, and that's one reason the B&M loopers are so successful, but it doesn't make for a great hyper coaster.
Morgan feels like a refined Arrow. Pretty good rides, but they have a little of the controlled B&M feel to them. Better trains though, in the two across seating.
Intamin seems to combine qualities of both Morgan and B&M, with even a little Arrow thrown in. I haven't been on the New England Superman, but I understand it has spots of extreme airtime. If I can't get an Arrow, Intamin would probably be my second choice. Though with the restraint size issues and other problems, I doubt CF would buy an Intamin for GL.
So, I guess I'm hoping for a Morgan with an intense layout and some "forceful" air.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Yes, something like a Phantoms Revenge would be quite nice. I think the double down and double up on that has the most forcefull ejector type air (although brief) on any hyper. I may actualy take a longer version of Phantoms Revenge with some big cammelbacks over S:ROS @SFNE, just it has more of an out of control/wood type feel to it. *** Edited 7/20/2004 3:42:21 PM UTC by Joe E***

I cant imagine being all that excited for an Arrow or Morgan hyper. Phantom's Revenge is great, but GL certainly doesnt have the terrain Kennywood does and after riding Steel Force this last weekend I have no confidence in Morgan to do anything as good as PR again.
I'd have to disagree with a majority of this. Yes, they are tryign to make money, but SF did the "money comes with thrill rides" thing. It failed. Okay, that was probably partly due to adding the Sea World side... (at least that's what I would say.) CF will eventually add more, but only if the capital is there to do so. Not the other way around.
And Apollo was alright, but it doesn't compare with a nice hyper twister like Raging Bull. If it's a Morgan, I'd be very happy.
Goodbye 2005 season!!!!
