Which sections of the park could use a refresh?

I think the 150th year anniversary will bring a wooden coaster to the park.

But the challenge park makes money. If it wasn't making money, they would've gotten rid of it. And those attractions draw resort guests, not so much of the one day park guests.

Seriously? Resort guests do not stay at the hotel and not enter the park. THEY ALL ENTER THE PARK (I know caps is frowned upon)! If your statement was true then they would not have put the slingshot inside the park. Having been to Kings Island I can tell you first hand that the "challenge park" there has way more visitors (and presumably makes more money).

Every single time I pass by the Challenge park there are never any line and rarely any riders. At Kings Island I actually had to wait to get on their Ripcord. Call it anecdotal evidence (this is based off of multiple visits) but again, if your statement was true then Slingshot would have been put in challenge park. Explain that.

When did I say resort guests do not enter the park? I was saying it's placement gives resort guests something to do at night on the way back to their room. The CP attractions are open later than the park. I don't know why KI didn't put their CP attractions near the resorts. Oh that's right, there are no resorts there!

Can't believe that hating on Mean Streak is still going on. A month before Rougaroo opens up someone still suggests that the RMC treatment should happen before a Mantis refurb. Hey guess what Mantis no longer exists. Not to mention the idea that Mean Streak needs torn down or that's gonna be the next thing. Open up your eyes and look at that large space of open ground that they are getting ready to build new attractions on. I'd say that's probably where their gonna start. Probably a new coaster and a dark ride over the next 2 years. Can see Soak City expanding soon. That would a down years addition after the new coaster. Then they'd have to add something for the kids. I'd like to see them move the Challenge Park attractions into the park eventually and build there in 6-8 years if Soak City doesn't get the land.

But seriously, the we don't have any space to build and we gotta tear down Mean Streak arguement has been run into the ground. The idea that it still gets brought up with this large portion of land opened up for future expansion is crazy. It baffles me that someone would wonder where the next rides going to be built at all. For those of you that don't care for Mean Streak you sure do spend enough time back there keeping tabs on it's ridership.

I don't think it is that crazy to talk about. This thread was made to talk about what areas of the park could get an update, not what we think the park should do in the next few years. I do think that the GTT area will be their focus for the next few years, but that doesn't mean that they aren't going to pay attention to the rest of the park. I just don't know if they they will do a large waterpark expansion, maybe a new slide or something simple like that. The waterpark has never really been a huge focus because it is not their strong point and I like that they realize that. It does get relatively good attendance though so it's possible.

I think Mean Streak may have a bright future. One big difference since Oiumet took over is that they don't just leave well enough alone. They have refurbished, overhauled, and remade several rides and areas of the park in the past few years. If the Rougarou treatment is a success (and why wouldn't it be?) I think it's reasonable to think CP would look into remaking Mean Streak into something more. CP's future is so bright, I gotta wear shades!

Reading may be hard, but very helpful when going on a rant about a thread. Here is the very first post of the thread.

In 2013, the front gate was refreshed, 2014 the Gemini midway was refreshed and it looks like this year the WT midway will get refreshed. It looks like the Blue Streak midway will be next. I think the whole park will get redone in the next few years, with different areas getting done each year.

What would you like to see done? And what are your ideas?

Reading it does wonders :)

Thabto, you never answered "why did they place slingshot inside the park?" If your original statement were true then they would have put it in challenge park (and they did not).

Answer me this. Why would any business limit themselves to a particular demographic when they could expand to reach a much larger one and increase their potential earnings? The obvious answer is that they wouldn't because it makes no sense.

Why limit yourself to "resort guests coming back from the park" when you could reach all guests who enter the park? Face it. that is why CP is finally making the changes that they needed to in the first place. First they Change Mantis to Rougarou (a floorless that people have wanted for a decade now), then they move challenge park. These are examples of things that have made sense for years but have been put off because the people who made those decisions were too stubborn to adapt to the reality of the situation. Call me one of those guy who in hindsight says "I told you so," but it is gonna happen and I am glad that for the sake of the park that it is. You should be too.

You make it sounds like Challenge Park is a hundred miles outside of the park.

How about this for a refresh?

The largest area of the park that is sorely lacking in something to do for kids, and could use a nice small playground is Frontiertown. Alot of parents have small children (some that are under 48" that can't ride with an older sibling). If one parent rides Maverick or Mean Streak with their older child, there is nothing to do back there for a parent with a smaller kid (under 48" child).

A great spot that could use a playground in FT, and would bring some foot traffic to the area is the spot between Wave Swinger and Chick Fil-A. Yes, the spot occupied by the former Frontier Carousel and current home to Eternity Infirmary. There is a nice chunk of land there and the space is being wasted by only being used a few weeks out of the year. Would be nice to see it utilized more often.... my 2c.

CC: Above being copied Celebration plaza work thread.

What I always thought would be cool is a restaurant or sit down place that over looks the water where the former spot of the frontier carousel was.

Because TGIFridays, Breakwater Cafe,Famous Daves and Bay Harbor restaurants overlooking the water aren't enough options?

New for 2024- Wicked Twister Plus

I read his note to mean a casual restaurant in the park overlooking the water, right off the "Wave Swinger Midway." Given that all of those restaurants you mentioned are outside the park gates, no, those aren't enough options.

That said, I can't say that I'd be a fan of looking out over the "water" of Maverick's lagoon, mostly because like most of CP's inland lakes, I'm not sure it's even water anymore.

Something caught my attention on the webcam currently facing the construction/dorms area. I circled in red the area of notice.

Do I see a footer and several footer holes or...?

Also looks like white markings spread out? Sites of future footers??

I would be skeptical...

White markings could also bes for the underground sprinkler system that is being installed to keep the grass green in this area.

That's just the entrance to the underground tunnel to the Thirsty Pony.

It's perfectly okay to constantly post about tearing down one of the largest wooden roller coasters in the United States because it doesn't suit you. But if someone likes it their ranting. I get it you think that CP is hear just to suit your needs and since you'd just assume not ride that specific ride it makes sense to build a campfire out of it. I care about your opinion as much as you do mine. My point specifically is that they don't have to tear down the ride you don't care for to suit your wants. Against popular belief, they don't have to tear down Mean Streak to build a ride that you desire. It doesn't matter what the topic of the tread is, because every thread, no matter the topic reverts back to tearing down Mean Streak. All I am saying is build your coaster on the land that extinct animals roam on or in the land of nothing that used to be a theatre and a sissy car ride. I won't stop posting in defense of one of my favorite rides at the park. Not that I don't favor almost all their rides. I prefer to get on Mean Streak with a minimal wait. What's so hard to understand that there are people who enjoy the ride?

Jeff's avatar

It's how to understand how they could have such poor taste, obviously. Duh.
