Where is the best place to Stay(DORMS)

Gold dorms are located just behind the Matterhorn/Scrambler area of the park, right across from the East wing of Hotel Breakers. Gold mainly has double occupancy rooms (there are also quad occupancy rooms at the end of the hallways). The rooms are VERY simple (and very small) - old wood floors, sprinkler pipe running across the ceiling, single bare light bulb for lighting on the ceiling, antique furniture (set of bunk beds and 2 dressers, no closets), and communal bathrooms are located on each floor. Keep in mind that these were the first dorms ever built at CP in the early 1900's. As mentioned before, on point facilities do not have cable TV as do the off point accommodations. I liked living in Gold - you can get up 10 minutes before work and still make it on time, you can go to your room and sleep on break, and the park is basically your backyard. I only moved off point the next season so I could live in what was then the new building (1500 Commons) and I finally got a car, which made things easier.
Does anyone have pictures of the Gold Dorms... or any other houseing units for that matter?
Go to my homepage http://vms.www.uwplatt.edu/~moyerc/cedarpoint.html and follow the link to the picture section.. there are apartment pictures there. No Dorm pictures though. Sorry. On the CedarPoint job section, under housing I think, they have a picture of Cedars.

Ok, so the guys dorms are Cedar and the girls are Gold... that leaves the Common Dorms to be "co-ed"? What's the scoop on the location and stuff of this place. I live in a dorm room right now so I don't think it would be much different. I have one roommate and we live in a 12' by 13' room and share a bathroom with two other girls. We each have a desk and share a dresser and a few shelves. Is it that much different?
Also...if you start out at one place, doesn't mean you are stuck there for the rest of the summer. You can always move to another dorm/apartment.

I thought I had a lot of questions before I started. :)

Commons is co-ed by building. 1500 and 1300 dorm buildings are female and 1400 dorm is male. The apartments are in different blocks also, but it seems that they switch every other year as to which sex will occupy which building (if I'm not mistaken - any housing sups out there?).

Well I lived in gold for the past two year. Yes there is a phone. Most rooms are 2 person rooms. There are 4 person rooms located on each end of the floors, and I just found out last year that there were a few 3 person rooms. Now for the question do they fill up fast-----NO. I believe they are the last dorm to get filled. Now if you are wondering if you should love on point or off point ask yourself this question----Do you like to go out, have fun and drink?....then i recommend living off point. It can be the biggest hassle to find a ride to and from the bar. But you can always beg someone for a ride to Louies......
what age do u have to be to get into louies?? just curious..
I hope it is 19 and i hope they serve.
No, they don't serve underage (they're not that dumb) but I do believe the age is either 18 or 19 to get in. My advice to you is BE CAREFUL - I have had to bring several underage friends home from jail for getting caught drinking at Louie's and several of age friends have been severly fined for supplying drinks. I'm not exactly condoning underage drinking, either, but I'm sure many of us that are of legal age have been there before :)

It's 18 Carrie, else I wouldn't have been able to go last year hehe.

And no Mantis they don't serve underage if they know you're underage.

I don't know if I should even bother. There is a phone PROVIDED in each room. You don't have to bring your own. NO there is not a tv provided in each room (i think you should have thought about that before you posted that up. Do you really think cedar point would provide a tv in each room. NOT). And yes you can bring your computer (not that you would have time to be on it anyways).
I lived in all three types of housing... commons, cedars (dorms), and bayside apts. First off, to anyone who may be reading... AVOID commons at all cost!!!! They smell and they are cramped. Plus I felt the security measures there were a hell of a lot more stringent than at the other places. (don't know why really, but I always had a difficult time with getting through the desk area). Cedars was fine too. I loved the location and it was a hell of a lot easier finding a ride to the bar than it was getting to the park from off point. But... Bayside is the place to stay. Especially if you have a car. Yeah, they cram a lot of people into one apt. but if you work it out right, you can be in with all of your friends. My best summers were spent while at bayside. Very easy proximity to the bars and security...at least when I was there, was really lax...
Just thought I could add a little.

Stockade Burgers Rule!!!????
Shane, a few things have changed... Commons isn't so bad as far as security anymore.. and Bayside is usually full by the end of April. The past few years the Commons apartments and Dorms have had to be opened as early as Supervisor Seminar ( April 15th this year). As for Stockade Burgers.. they rule.. ESPECIALLY when I cook them!!!!! But.. since you have never came to visit while I was in Foods.. you will never know! :)
well how would i know if they put a tv in a room or not? i've never worked there.... and you guys all talk aboutgoing to the bar and stuff, well... i don't do that.. so there's my time right there to use Mr. Computer.

Do I hear sarcasm?? If you think about it, if your an insomniac like myself then the bar might acually help bring more sleep!
Are visitors allowed in your apartment/dorm?? At Disney security allows visitors as long as they show a photo-id and sign a release..

Hehe Corey not if you get back into your room at 3:30 AM if at all. Exercise helps me sleep better. Going to run, yes, and lift, and do situps. I promise. Grrrrrrrrrrr...........
