Where is the best place to Stay(DORMS)

I have heard different things about Bayside,Commons, and staying on the Point. Could someone PLEASE tell me where would be the best place to stay considering that i don't have a car...THANK YOU!!

I think the best is Bayside, it has the most room, and you dont have that many roomates. However it fills up fast so if your not there before park open you may not get a place.

I Think it all depends on what you feel comfy with. if you like a lot of room but also a lot of roomates then bayside and commons would be the way to go, plus the bus usually runs and if all else fails, you can usually find someone to give you a ride. but if you don't want a whole lot of roomates and aren't that picky about space then cedars is the right choice, plus you can just walk right into the park.
On car pool days, you will have people begging you to ride in their car.
But if you don't want to have to worry about catching the bus.. (I didn't like it a whole lot, the 2 or 3 times I had to catch it) and you don't mind living in an old building...Cedars is ideal if you don't have a car. I think if you lived onPoint and had a car, it would be a bit of a hassle.

My personal opinion of the best reason to stay on point....you can wake up five minutes before you have to be at work and still be there on time! :) If you don't have a car, it is nice to not have to hassle with the busses either...so if you don't mind a smaller room and you don't want to worry about those other things, I would recommend on point. (Disclaimer: I have only lived in Bayside and Commons so I can't say firsthand about living on point, but if I didn't have a car, I would live on point!)
With no car I would choose Cedars. No hassle of waiting for shuttle. Can go to your room on breaks to relaxe. Many are going to say living off-point is the thing to do. That place kinda reminds me of a prison the way it's all fenced up. Cedars only downfall is not being located near Louies.
Don't live on the Point! Even if you don't have a car, someone will give you a ride. Hell, I'll give some hot girl a ride any day if she asks. Guys, you're on your own. But usually you can find a ride with someont on your crew or rooomates or whatever. On Point housing is terrible and it smells bad. Do yourself a favor and live off-Point
Damn....I don't know what to think guys. It looks like right now i am gonna seek a place off point. Any more input is highly welcome.
Well...Having working there in 92 and staying onpoint, I would go off point. You are constantly awakening by the Wildcat, and the cold air from the lake is frigid...
This will be my first season at CP, and I will definitely try to stay somewhere on-point, like Cedars... I dont care how old and cruddy the place is, I would just be happy being able to walk to work, and not have to get driven, or take the bus.

The Samurai has spoken.
Constantly awakened by the wild cat? My room last year was right between it and the IMAX. I dont ever recall being woken up in the middle of the night be either.

And if that frigid lake air wakes you up CLOSE YOUR WINDOWS.

I too suggest on-point housing. Parking bans and waiting for a bus can get old.

My first year I stayed in Cedars, Section G, my room was right across the wildcat, and I actually used it as a backup alarm clock, but I would still live off-point.

It costs more to live off point for one thing. Sure the rec center and Louies is in the proximity, but the shuttle bus service is not that reliable. Whether you have a car or not it doesn't really matter where you live becasue hardly do you spend much time in it. Besides it's kinda fun hitch hiking from the bar to Cedars across the causeway. You will have take wake up earlier in the morning living off point. The cafeteria is within walking distance on point. I decided that I would live off point after living on point, but I feel living on can have its benifits.
Wagonboy..First of all..Some people arent sound sleepers like you. I get awaken by the littlest of things. Second as far as the frigid air, my window was closed, it was the air from the open windows at the end of the hallways, for some reason, everyone kept opening. Another reason why I wouldnt recommend onpoint housing is because of the "unwanted attention" you get when you bathe.
Hmmm....frigid air? I would think that would only be a problem up to the beginning of May, and then again at the end of August. I would of loved some of that blowing through my window last summer during some of those nights it felt almost too hot too sleep. And we had air conditioning, and it was still hot in our rooms.

Hi, i have a question, I'm probably gonna apply at Cedar Point next summer, and well I know absolutely nothing about the housing, so if i wanted to stay with as little people as possible would Cedars be the best? cause that's what it seems like by your postings? how many people are in each room there? or what? i have no idea! also.. if there aren't many people in those rooms, what are the bathooms like, and if i have a car, as there places to park? thanks!...

Hey all, it seems like living off the point is the way to go. Anyways, what are the places that I have to choose from? I haven't really looked into it all that much. Two friends from my floor here at MSU and I are planning on rooming together :-) and we would like to know pros and cons of them all. Thanks!

~Shannon
Does anyone have any information about the showering and living conditions of the Cedar Dorms??? I realize that this is on the point but I think it would be better because I will not be having a car down there this summer. Here at school I am used to trains going by all of the time along with the garbage truck and other trucks which unload approx. 10 feet away. So I don't think that the noise of the wild cat would bother me. Anyways, could you please give me all of the pros and cons of the place... and how many people are per room.
Thanks! :-)
I'm assuming from your name of Shannon, that you are female... but I have known a guy named Shannon too, so sorry if I'm mistaken. The onpoint girl dorms are called Gold. The guys dorm is Cedars.

I will try and help with the pros and cons of the housing... but I've only lived in the Commons apartments... never experienced the dorms... But here is more of an objective view than a subjective view of the things I know (I'm bored!)

OnPoint dorms:
Pros:
location, less time to get to work, cheaper rent, living with less people.
Cons: old, smaller rooms, no cable

OffPoint dorms:
Pros: less people (versus apartments), cable, nicer living conditions
Cons: Um, it's a dorm, higher rent (right?)

Apartments:
Pros: Air conditioning, no communal bathrooms, kitchen, cable, nicer living conditions
Cons: Living with 16 people (or whatever), higher rent

Thanks for this valuable piece of information. Yes, I am a female... although I know a few guys named Shannon (one of my old bosses, talk about strange). Anyway, in this case i guess I am looking for information about the girls dorm Gold. Where are they located, and how are their conditions? I haven't even heard of these before...
