What would you do?

I as at Cedar Point on 10-12 it was a normal busy Sunday because of the extended hours and all the Holloweekend attractions. So me and my buddy had just gotten in line for Maverick. The wait was a typical 1.5 hr wait. While waiting in line there was 2 children I STRESS children they had to be 9 or 10 years old. They both were wearing the gangster cloths and ear rings. You know as a parent things you would not let your 9 or 10 year old wear. So i figured that this was going to be a longer then normal wait and i was right. Fo the entire 1.5 hr wait these kids were being horrable. Spitting on the hand rails. Trying to spit on my buddies shoes. Throwing M&M's in the water, Poring the contents of melted Lemon Ice on the hand rails. Throwing the empty cup in to the water. Using terrable language such as Bi**h, @$$, F@G, Gay, just words a 10 year old should not know how to use. So my buddy told them that they needed to stop and thats where it got even worse. We were in the white water landing building and the kids were chaining the poles so we had to hold up the line to un chain it so we could get passed. They were saying that there dad was going to knock us out when we got off the ride. Then we got up the stairs and on of the kids Spit over the railing on to a womans head. So we got to the station ad told the guy running the line what the kids were doing. The ride op said there is nothing we can do because they did not see it happen.
My question is WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

Get CP Police on the phone. And ask them to be waiting at the exit to the ride. The ops try and avoid confrontation as much as possible (can't blame them, they have enough other problems to deal with). CP Police are there to handle these kinds of problems.

These situations can be tough, because as a ride host we weren't able to do much unless we saw the situation take place. The same was the case with line jumpers. As John said, security is the best option, but getting ahold of them while in line can be tough. I may be wrong but I don't think CP has a publicly available phone number for CP police do they? I don't think you would call 911 in that situation either...

As a side story, one of the best security incidents I ever saw while working at the park was on MF in 2004. We had heard from some guests that there were some beligerently drunk teenage girls in the line who looked to be 15 or 16. When they got up to the station, you could smell the alcohol on their breath, and they were falling all over the place. When they got in the train, we lowered their lap bars, called security, and left them in the train until security got there. People wondered why it was taking so long to dispatch the train, but cheered when security showed up...

Insinuate a riot.

No I wouldn't have put up with it for one minute, and I wouldn't even bother to try and find the CP police number. Verbally ask them what the f... they are doing, and if they have some sort of disorder like a llama.

If they were llama's than I would say cool, I didn't know they allowed you on rides at the point.

But in the rare case their are not llama's at the point, and they continued to act retarded in front or behind me. The best thing to do, and I am sure everyone would agree is to have someone save your spot for you and go to the entrance and tell the ride operator there.

Just tell them there are people spitting in line and making a game out of it on top of that. CP doesn't take lightly to people spitting.

I am young and **** so when I think people are doing something retarded, man they are doing something really retarded because being young we love to do retarded things like split a pair of 7's versus a 10 in blackjack.

So for me to give them the evil eye will reaffirm to them that they are being too retarded, and must consider a new in-line hobby. Such as learning to juggle, breakdance on cement, or sodoku like the rest of America.

To get the CP Police you can call the park's telephone operator (419-626-0830) and ask for CP Police.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

"Yeah CP police, we get a ten niner going on in the Millennium Force line, they let the llama's out and they are spitting everywhere again"

Tell the people that are spitting they are doing it wrong and when they say what tell them you are supposed to swallow.

I call no that's what she said jokes.

Well if the ride op is unable to do anything because they did not witness it, they also can't do anything if they don't witness you smacking the crap out of the kids :)

I'd tell them off and threaten to talk to their stupid, unresponsible parents, and kick their butts for being so stupid and having stupid kids.

I would have told them...in no uncertain terms...that if they didn't knock it off they were going swimming. In most cases...kids like that will back down if you get really loud and in their face.

I feel the ride op should have been more interested and contacted the police himself. He could have had them come over and you could have spoken to them even if the op himself did not know anything.

I'm going out to get some air.

I'm dead serious. It seems like the only way to get through to kids these days is to go over the top with them. Of course, you better to be able to back it up and at 6', 200 they usually think I can. (Although, in all honesty, I'm not sure I could take 4 10 year olds at once.)

Ran into a 16 year old kid at the gas station last week who was blaring his crap music with the f-this and ho'-that. I had my two children in the car with me and I told him to please turn it down. He looked at me with a blank stare. I then walked up to him and quietly told him that if he didn't turn the f-ing music down I was going to do it for him. His girlfriend nearly started to cry and he turned it down. Would I really crack him upside the head? Probably not. It isn't worth getting arrested over. But, all it usually takes is calling them on it.

I went through some of those things in line at cp. Like pushing and LINE CUTTING on Millennium Force and spitting and entering restricted areas to retrieve stuff on Maverick. Maverick's pond is a key part of these activities I've seen people throw peoples game prizes in the pond and stick gum to the walls and hand rails. Line cutting in my book is a bad one on Millennium Force I've been shuved out of peoples way to get in front of me in the station (almost knocked down) and the ride ops. can't due nothing without seeing. I've even seen people take garbage can lids and put them on their heads in the rain (more funny and gross then bad)But even if they see it they hesitate or say you can file a complaint at guest services (how is that going to get the offenders in trouble?) Next time I think I'll call the number or just ask the op to call.

And for spitting on someones head that is bad. If someone did that to me I would be so p-offed (probably think its a bird though)

Sheesh. I don't want to sign up on an on-line dating service just to figure out the answer . . . I don't need to know that badly!

My author website: mgrantroberts.com.

The one time I had a problem in line I took care of it by myself.

I was getting in line for Raptor with my girl. We got caught behind a woman getting her kid measured. The guy in front of us decided to go on passed her while this happened which is ok in my book. I thought he was a single rider anyway.

We get about 5 minutes into a 30 minute line and I hear excuse me from behind. It was the "single rider"s friend. I asked him where he was going and told him sorry. As I was doing that, 2 girls climb over the cue and meet up with the single rider.

The exchange went something like this:

Me: This is not O.K.!

Him: Yes it is, just sit tight.

M: Don't tell me to sit tight, don't tell me its ok.

H: What are you going to do about it? I know people in the front office.

M: I don't care if you know Kinzel. Get em on the phone (at this point he pulls out his phone and pretends to dial CP, and ask for someone) get em over here to this line and show me the high roller you know.

H: Looks its not a big deal...

M. It is, either get behind me and the other people your friends got in front of or we will let the park police figure it all out.

He gets behind me and then goes onto to tell the rest of his friends that I'm being a dick and hes gonna kick my ass and his buddy is gonna kick me out. I finally had enough after about 5 more minutes and I turned around and told him i wasn't going to put up with it and if he wants to be a hard ass to shut his mouth and do somethig about it. He stopped talking. Onece in the station he pretended to get a hold of his friend again. He hung up the phone and said his friend was waiting for me to get off the ride. We get on a train ahead of him and to my girlfriends dismay, I decide to wait at the exit to ask him where his friend is, with a cop.

He gets off, see's me, his girl shakes her head and he sees the cop. I've never seen anyone get so wide eyed before. The officer approaches him and asks him who he knows in the office. The guy concedes and says no one. The cop tells him he will let him enjoy the rest of his day, but if he gets another complaint the guy can leave the park.

The cop tells me and my girl to go on and he will hold the perp for the next five minutes to give us enough time to go to another section.

Hard asses never win.

TMawsome People are just stupid sometimes nice job getting a cop involved. I wonder what was going through his head when he saw the cop. Also was that the last you saw of that guy that day?
