Halloweekends isnt exactly family friendly though. If you think about it, there are signs and voices that run through the speakers at each zone entrance that warn that children shouldn't enter. Thats all you have to do for a haunted house like that! Not EVERYTHING in the park has to be family oriented. There are plenty of things for children to do during Halloweekends. Bring in the intensity and experiment with new stuff for haunted houses.

I too think that it's time for Pharoah's Secret to go.... I really liked the upgrade they did with Club Blood, and Undertaker U is usually pretty good. The Asylum idea would be great... a good haunt doesn't necessarily have to have a theme to be good - you can have different things going on in different rooms. That's actaully how most haunts are.
As far as the zones go, I guess I'm in the minority that I think Fear Faire is great. The fog in the picnic shelter is usually so thick that you can't see anyone until they're right up on you, and I think the medieval theming works well.
^ Fear Faire does have it's moments. I had a blast working there last year, but I still think it needs atmosphere. Fright Zone has the fog covered trail and the buildings that are there, Carnevil now has the much closer quarters of Camp Snoopy and that carnival like atmosphere, Terror Island has the wooded island and the mere fact that you have to cross a bridge to get to it.
They all have a location that provides a certain feeling when you enter the zone.
I think the best way for CP to step it up a notch would be to allow a group of Screamsters to have free range of the park, or allow some ride lines to become "haunted".

^ I think they actually had Screamsters randomly roaming around the midways at one point a few years ago. I think it caused many problems. I could be wrong, but I thought I overheard someone say that last year. Thats probably why theres "Tricksters" out there now!

What I always thought would be cool was something like I did a few nights this year. I did something like a Pirate Training thing a couple hours before we opened in front of the Boathouse. And I had some kids come up and would train them how to be Pirates. It was fun the kids and the parents loved it too and it helped the kids get over their fears. I had a few parents come back at night and said their kids wanted to leave before it got dark but after the thing with me they wanted to stay to go through it all and they said they loved it. If there was a place or something where you could have some Screamsters out during the day where kids can come out and say hi and get the pictures taken it can help get rid of their fears. I had tons of thank yous from when I did it and I really hope I can do it more this year.

Zeek that is an excellent idea. There were so many small kids that would come through and be so scared after i would target their parents or siblings, that i would get down to their level, take off my gloves and give them a high five. After that they became more curious and seemed to enjoy it.

I think what we screamster can do is connect with the little kids is to show that we are human.
I understand what zeek did and I really admire that but lets remember why were here. Were suppose to scare and scare well. Theres a difference between being scared and being to scared. Id rather have a kid scared of me than a punk who isnt and is gonna try to tear my mask off because im "nice". I like helping kids cope with there fears and have fun and I can tell by looking at the kid if hes to scared but like i said Im here to scare, I can be nice anytime but during this time I want to scare.

^ I completely agree! Thats why Im a Screamster. Our job is to get in people's faces and scare the crap out of them. Not walk around and try to be all goody two shoes. Sure it might be a good idea to be friendly during the day, but once that sun goes down and the fog rolls in, no more Mr. Nice Guy!

you usually know before, working in a zone we encounter a high volume of people and you'll just learn, and if you still having probs or are worried about it work close to someone as a team till you feel comfortable or ask a vet and they'll pull you aside and show you.

About the whole being there to scare. It kind of sounds like you don't like this idea of getting the kids to be okay with coming in. I understand you're not deep thinkers but this is the way I took it when I made these kids not scared of me or us by doing it...when they came through the zone and I jumped out and watched them scream and run away, it puts twice the amount of fear back in them. And you can take your easy scares of getting the ones that are clinging to people, but the elites ( Terror Island mainly) we like to go for the ones that don't look scared, bigger ego boost. And if you are one that goes to a kid who's crying and scares them more, I mean, anyone can do that, no skill needed.

That was a one night only "special". After myself and a few other Screamsters raided Johnny Rockets and started taking over for the wait staff, management realized it was a bad idea;)
Im agreeing with you zeek, Im not saying to go scare a crying kidd. Thats a situation were you go and show him your a real person. I want the kids to come in I think the more kids the better.

99er, that sounds like it would've been a blast! I can only imagine what the customers were thinking.
And Zeek... sure its ok to make the kids not afraid of us, but we're there to scare. The kids have their own stuff to do throughout the park during the day. The adults come to get scared by us! If the kids decide to come into our zones to get scared, let them. If they dont want to, they dont have to. Thats what I was stating above!

I think the only kids that you shouldn't scare are the kids that are crying. All the other kids its a fair game. We warn parents on the map that young children should not go through these zones. So it the parent that make the choice. They should ban strollers form the zones because when I went through Carnevil last year a mother ran over my foot and it didn't hurt but they take up alot of space.
