We had pretty good capacity on demon last year, i'm not sure what it's like this year with the new gates, but I'm sure it's better than Mr. Hydes Nasty Fall at Geauga Lake that ride is in VERY poor shape. Demon Drop is infinately better than Power Tower, because you don't have to listen to that damn autospiel, and because you get to look out rather than at the other column of power tower.
I think I'm the only one who loves disaster transport. I love this ride, and I don't think they would have added gates to it if they were going to tear it down. What I think they should do is patch the roof so it dosen't go down for rain, (look up in the tunnel after the second block brake, those white spots aren't stars, they're holes) then they need to clean the dirt off the themeing (there is about 3 inches of dirt on it ) , get rid of the black light/3d/neon make me puke stuff, and take out the alaska part of the theme, and make it all sci-fi cargo ship.
Demon Drop 2004
Castaway Bay Lifeguard 04-05
If that Disaster Transport was ever removed, I'd like to see something take like FOF at PKI. I really enjoyed that ride a lot, it's fast, smooth a lot of cool twists and turns, and Loops. I love the launch more because its more unexpected then Wicked Twister or Top Thrill Dragster.
What I don't get is the theming for Disaster Transport. They always say "Welcome To Alaska". It doesn't look anything like Alaska unless it's the future. To me it looks like Aliens are invading Alaska when you walk in the queue. Its one of the few bob sleds in the United States left, which is one reason Cedar Point still has it.
The Flight of Fear building isn't much more attractive than the Disaster Transport one http://www.rcdb.com/ig66.htm?picture=1.
They must have had a hell of a time putting that thing together http://www.rcdb.com/ig66.htm?picture=1.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
Well You do have to admit that FOF is a better ride though. Cedar Point would probably make something more uniqe than that. They wouldn't make the building quite as long. I could also see a B&M ride fit perfectly in that area. Maybe you could have an inversion in the sand.
Why do anything at all.Its a nice easy ride for the uninitiated ones and the young or old who cant ride the major coasters. All rides cant and shouldnt appeal only to the coaster "freaks".(no offense intended)Were I younger,I would be one of them.
Someone once commented in a similar topic that DT should be rethemed to the Peanuts characters. I like that idea.

Is it dorky that I still love Disaster Transport?
Yes, maybe. I feel empty leaving the Point without riding it. I anticipate it coming down someday and when it does I won't be angry, but for now I can't complain.
And I think Demon Drop deserves some more respect than it recieves.

Magnum still rocks.
Lots of people love it, the line almost spilled out of the building this sunday. I looked at the turnstile(sp) numbers, and as of 7pm they put 7890 people on the ride. I am sure at closing they had to hit at least 10,000 peeps.
Does not sound like a ride that is going anywere anytime soon.
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
i say keep it... its great for alot of people. i still love it even though i would rather ride somthing bigger and faster. the darkness adds an effect to the ride that makes it diffrent from every other ride in the park. it just needs to be cleaned, and i agree with shawn, i dont get the whole alaska theme going on, i know its somthing to do with the "transporter" but i think they should make it more of a spacey allien theme.
Would it be possible to bring back those things like the pre shows and robots? And would it make the ride any better: theme wise?
Most of the time pre-shows probably wouldn't be seen. There is not usually a line that would allow for watching a pre-show. I think this summer has been unusually hot, so more people are riding the ride. But I would love to see some of the theming back, or do something to it. They spent all that money enclosing it, but lost pretty much everything they set out to do. Disappointing. It has a lot of potential.
"And let's also not forget--let's not forget, Dude--that keeping wildlife, an amphibious rodent, for uh, domestic, you know, within the city--that isn't legal either. "
may be they could add a track (not the slide thing) and add a splash in the end... unless they can do it with the slide.. just somthing to spark up the ride... they could add an allien that pops out of the wall on top of the big hill and at other spots of the ride, it would add another fright factor to the ride besides the ride itself and the darkness.
could this even be done??? i think it would make it a little cooler... *** Edited 7/25/2005 11:59:21 PM UTC by milleniumforcerocks***
i think mgm owns that and it is on the movie ride at mgm whatever disney park. but that would be cool. i think it would spark up the theme and would make the ride more fun. *** Edited 7/26/2005 2:53:55 AM UTC by milleniumforcerocks*** *** Edited 7/26/2005 2:55:03 AM UTC by milleniumforcerocks***
Well something definately has to be done. I really do enjoy the ride. Even adding the "I'm losing control!" would make it a little better. They really should give it more of an alien and space theming. It's really amazing when looking at the FOF how much can be done with an indoor coaster and with such a small amount of space. The theming on the ride is unbelievable. CP is the best park in the world. They should have the most amazing theming espeically with an indoor.
Oh and BTW, are the lights always on in FOF or do you ride it in darkness. Thise pics of it are crazy. *** Edited 7/26/2005 7:08:04 AM UTC by matt1027***
i think adding a "im losing control" would be cool it would fit in with the theme. its a shame the theme isnt better because i like that ride alot. its nice to take a break from all the big ridesand go inside.
