What Should Be Done To Disaster Tran.

Disaster Transport is doing nothing but taking up space in my opion. Why not take it down, put a launching indoor coaster or somthing, it looks terrible, and is not a thrill at all.

Why? Cause it would cost millions of dollars, THAT'S why.

It's a thrill to someone, someone like my sister. She enjoys the ride a lot and it's fun for me just to ride it with her. So, I'm sure there are other people like me or my sister out there that enjoy the ride. Plus, you can get 3-D glasses;)!

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.

I would like for it to be "un" enclosed. I rode it as a kid when it was Avalanche Run and I liked it then. Now it really is just an eyesore. The ride is ok, it's just ugly.

Agree.

IMO, it's best feature is it's air-conditioning.

I don't mind the ride and would be unhappy to see it go. It's my mom's favorite ride. (Second to Raptor)

If they unenclosed it, I'm guessing everybody would ride it one time, just to remember what it was like, then never again, because it's a lame coaster. Right now, it's not doing so bad. It's not the funnest coaster by a longshot, but it's nice to stand in the AC on a hot day, and as long as people are pushing the wait to an hour on many days, I don't see why they would do anything to it. Besides, the kids seem to get a bang out of it. My 10-year-old drags me onto it at least once during each visit to the park.

To those of you who want to see it torn down, I have only one thing to say. Don't ride it. The ride is not failing, and as long as it succeeds, I doubt CP is going to make improving it a priority.

I'm going to take about 3/4 of Six Flags coasters over DT. *** Edited 7/18/2005 2:36:13 AM UTC by Fastball84***

TAER IT DOWN!!!!!!1111

they should keep it, but it is ugly. cedar point should paint the building. and not just one color. make it vibrant and noticable. it would make the area look nicer. maybe put giant billboards of sponcers and other cedar fair parks. (michigan's adventure- it realy needs people for cedar fair to trust it and put something big. i have been going for years and i want something big next year.)

Okay, I'll admit that I really like it. Not sure why, maybe it's the free-rolling aspect and that I feel like I'm flying down the track. It's my secret favorite at the park.

Of course I don't like the theming-absolutely horrendous and pointless (I don't consider a few spots of swirly color a "theme"). I'd rather ride it in pitch black; perhaps they could just do that on the actual ride.... *** Edited 7/18/2005 2:43:55 AM UTC by CarrieS***

If they tore it down CP would have one less roller coaster, giving them 15 and Six Flags 16.

I distinctly remember Kinzel saying in an article or interview that he had made two mistakes in his tenure as CEO of Cedar Fair. One was that he didn't buy Geauga Lake when he had a chance (before Six Flags bought it) and installing DT which he described as a lemon. He has obviously remedied his first mistake, so maybe removing the lemon could be his final going away present. It is one of the few coasters kids 46" tall can go on, so maybe he could replace it with a kiddie/junior coaster.

I would rather him replace it with the CP Cyclone though. It was the best coaster (of many) to occupy that location. It does seem that that part of the park is cursed as far as attraction lifespan goes.

Because if "enough" people didn't still like it, the park wouldn't keep operating it.

Besides all of the money, as in this is not just RCT where you can tear down rides at your leisure, not everyone wants a huge, fast, white-knuckle ride. There are families with kids to appeal to visiting their park, and the last time I checked, they pride themselves on having something for everyone.

I believe that the number of kids who'll ride TTD or MF when they reach the height limit, and the number of adults who won't even watch the ride make a complete circuit eventually balance out somewhere.

I personally like DT, as people have metioned the a/c is nice on hot summer days and I also like the theming attempt. Although it is really bad, at leasts its something to look at and it is about the most themed ride in the park. One thing I wish they would do with it (or maybe they can't??) was to make it stay open when it is raining outside. I have been at cp before when there was no lightening or thunder, but yet they had to close the ride because of rain which I assumes leaks through the roof?

I've always liked DT, and I would hate to see it go. I agree that at this point, it would be better if it was just completely dark. The theming was MUCH better back in the early 90's, and I would rather see a return to that glory, but that probably won't happen.

I agree with the idea that something should be done. As far as tearing it down, that is a step in the wrong direction. It was said on another forum to simply retheme the ride. There are endless ideas that could be put into use for an indoor coaster with the existing structure.

I used to love it when it was DARK IN THERE!! Last time I was at CP it was lit up. That made the ride a lot less fun. They should give it one theme too!! That would help it out probably a lot more. lol. I don't even know what the theme is right now. I guess a plane crash/a nuclear meltdown/glow in the dark?

There is no theme now. That's the problem. The just decided to put in some black-lights and slop some flourescent paint around and call it good.

When I went in the beginning of June it was pretty dark throughout the ride. I remember thinking how I liked it better that way, as I coudln't tell what was coming up. Do they sporadically turn the lights on/off??
