I agree they should bring back the sweet lights for the 10th B-day. Those would look sweet next to Starlight while riding Shoot the Rapids.
Let's Get Weird.
I think that it would be a great idea for Cedar Point to put in place a system where the food in the park was cheaper in the slow days as well. It is an easy way to go about doing things, and to make extra cash. Technically they wouldn't need to even change the menu prices, but instead just have a specials sign or just a lamanated print out posted near the kiosk. They usually run better deals at the beginning and end of the season in the hotels, so why not food? Another idea would to impliment an "all you can eat" plan like Universal has. It's between 15-20 per adult and is a great deal. Drinks are not included, so they are still making good cash on that. Basically you pay, get a wristband and have specific locations throughout the park(s) in which you stand in line, show the wristband, order and walk away. It may sound like you would "lose" but if you look at the price of a meal in an amusement park, it makes sense, 2 different meals at $10 each, and that's all most guests would take in. Then there are the guests who only eats fries, so CP makes more money on them, and the guest who eats 6 meals and CP breaks even or loses out on. You have to consider the quality of the food at the park. While most of it is good to fair, there are a few places that you only go in desperat times. While i'm not saying this would "save the park" by any means, it would offer more people to try the selection of Cedar Point food, and not 3rd party restaurant food within the park. It may even have an effect on Cedar Point to come up with some things that they could promote, like some Magnum Wings or some Blue Streak Steak Fries..
Also this year i'de like to see more AirBlade hand dryers located throughout the park.

This idea has been discussed before in another thread on here. For the life of me I'm having difficulty finding it at the moment. Someone pointed out how well CP is up to date on modern POS register systems :) that possibly at many locations the prices would have to be re-programed on each individual register (not through a central server) to adjust prices for "slow days".

They already do have an "all you can eat" restaurant in the park, Midway Market. Also they have experimented for the past several seasons with "all you can eat" meal deals with a fixed menu at one location in the park on certain days / weekends. They did run it several times, so it must not have been a total flop for them.

I understand your point, but "Blue Streak Stake Fries" just does not sound appetizing at all.... "blue streak" is not a name that sells food too well. :)

I would absolutely have to agree with that thought.

^ It's not 99er's fault, but this is for anyone out there who does not agree what MF is special:MF HAS THE SAME RIGHT TO BE HONORED JUST AS MUCH AS MAGNUM....oooooo, the MAGNUM! so special..........:)
MF does serve a ground-breaking purpose because it topped 300 feet, just like Magnum topped 200.
Besides, MF topped 300 by 10 feet, Magnum only topped 200 by 5 feet! ha ha.
Please stop knocking the Millennium....
It does need a paint job, it's turning PINK!
Not knocking Millenium Force at all, it is a great ride and a great distraction in Terror Island for the people who come in just to watch it. But you can't use comparisons like Magnum only went over 200 by 5 feet and Millenium went over 300 by 10. Magnum started the coaster wars, it was the brave soul that went out and dared to be different. Where as Millenium would be like being a red shirt in Star Trek...you serve a purpose as a filler, but you're gonna be killed off pretty quickly and replaced(Steel Dragon in Japan). And yes I know Magnum is no where one of the tallest anymore either but back in 2003 Magnum was named for the 13 straight year; “Best International Steel Roller Coaster”. That's just something you can't argue with, and until Millenium receives something like that, game to Magnum.
11 years.
Millennium still fills quite a stellar résumé itself, and whenever it's celebrated, 10 years, 20 years, 25 years...it is deserving of a pretty big celebration.

Unfortunately, the problem with the Midway Market is that it's located in the front of the park. If a "Meal Deal" system were in place where you could stop at different stalls throughout the park, I believe it would have a better overall appeal. Who is going to get off of Maverick and be ready to jump to the front of the park to hit a buffett, then head back to Dragster for the last ride of the night? Not many people. The locations would be designated by area and offer a plethera of things to choose from just like Midway Market claims to have. Plus it offers you the option to eat all day, not just a lot in one setting. I'm pretty sure you don't pay for Midway market then go back in 5 hrs later with your recipt and say, well, I paid earlier so i get to eat again.. right?

True. Generally when you go to an "all you can eat" buffet restaurant they mean all you can eat in 1 sitting.
From past experiences. I did have 1 time at Geagua Lake (when it was under management by Six Flags) where for my former employer's special event at the park they allowed us to buy "meal deal" and "soft drink" wrist bands (much similar to Universal Orlando's "meal deal" where you could go to selected food places all over the park and get selected meals, usually 1 or 2 meal options, all day and unlimited soft drinks at those locations.) It was an excellent deal at the time.
However they never ever offered the "meal deal" wristbands again after that season where you could go eat all over the park. I suspect they lost their shirts on the deal because they charged way too low a price for it to cover themselves in combo with the soft drink wristbands and you were never more than 5 mins walk from a food location that accepted the wristband deal.
What did happen after that was the meal wristbands were replaced with an offer similar to what CP has offered on their all you can eat "meal deal" on selected days last season where they had an limited selection (burgers, chicken, and hot dogs) buffet set up in a selected catered event/ picnic area in the park during standard meal time windows.
Frankly I'd love to see a "soft drink" wristband deal for all you can drink soft drinks for a day, but I know that will never happen as long as certain upper management is in place at CP and Cedar Fair.
(And in case anyone besides Tony & Tyler are looking at this over in Sandusky, as long as you price it correctly you can still make an overall profit on it guys. You just need to figure out how many drinks your average customer will drink during a day. Also I would think that wrist bands per unit are a lot cheaper than those souvenir cups/bottles you have offered, not to mention I doubt too many people want to lug around some large hard plastic cup/bottle all day while on rides. I know I won't lug it around at a park like CP.)
One thing that I always thought cp should get eventually are wait time boards for the most popular rides posted at different spots in the parks. Similar to what you have at universal studios. It comes in handy when you are by maverick and you want to know how long the wait is for raptor. So you can find out without having to walk all the way and find out.

Actually, they did have this for a VERY short time at the beginning of the 2009 season (or was it 2008?) and then suddenly ended the program.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Typical... CP "tries" something for 7 minutes, doesn't see immediate, double-digit returns, and it's deemed a complete failure.

Pete. It was last season. Because Kings Island was doing the same thing. I know I took advantage of the program when I visited the park early in the season last year. I even put in a good word about it every time I got a chance hoping it would stay around.
The only problem with it for me was you couldn't get the drinks anywhere you wanted. But also they would give you the size cups they use for water. I mean I understand they are trying to cut cost, but I'm going to get the amount of liquid I want whether you give it to me in one cup or 4.
I'd like a drink and hotdog wristband. Charge $19.99 and you can grab yourself a hotdog or/and pop with it anytime.
Even better, make it an item from a select list instead of just a hot dog, like a bag of chips, hotdog, hamburger, and maybe a few fancier items if financially possible.
Even if the average person had 5 drinks, 4 hotdogs, and 3 bags of chips, that MIGHT cost them, what? $10?
I don't see how they could even come close to losing money on a drink wristband.
If people actualy knew how much it cost's to put together a soda, they would be red in the face when they hand over $4 for a pepsi. It cost's pennies for cp to put together a soda(syrup, cup, ice). It'sover a 400% markup.
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
I loved the drink wristband idea. It was there for like 6 days in the season because when i went on memorial day weekend last year, you had to purchase it at park operations or the frontier hall. When I went, they said that selling a wristband fro 9.00 was making them loose to much profit. Supposedly groups would purchase 1 wristband and they would get 5 drinks at a time with it. It would be awesome if it were a perk with the Platinum Pass. But maybe they could have 2 free drinks every time you visit the park or something.
Pepsi Refresh is saving one coaster at a time: http://pep.si/bTTsfc
That's a very good point coolkid. What's keeping me from just grabbing 10 drinks and distributing them? I see the same problem with a platinum pass however, along with the pass probably costing $549.99.
Perhaps you could buy a drink ticket they could punch at each stand? They could sell an arrangement of tickets, one for 5 drinks, one for 5 drinks and 5 hotdogs, etc., all with varying prices.
