They need to spend money to make money. I was at Kalahari a couple of months ago and couldn't believe how easy they make it to spend money. My group and I spent $100 both nights at the swim-up bar alone, even when we had a fridge full of much cheaper beer back in our hotel room. When you're just swiping a card to pay for drinks, food, merchandise, etc. the concept of spending money almost goes out the door. Sure it may bite you in the ass when you're checking out and get your bill, but the company has already made their money at that point.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

I think we discussed the idea of "resort" cards...like the cards you get when you take a cruise...as a way they could maximize profits. That is, each person staying on-site would get issued a special card to use for purchases, etc...and it is charged onto their bill. There's a good reason cruise ships do this, and it has very little to do with the "convenience" for the consumer (although they do make spending very, very easy) :)

I hope they have some kind of celebration for MF this year like they did for Magnum. It would be nice if it got some new paint for it's 10th birthday.

I can't believe MF is already 10! How time flies...

Still no live band at the red garter.....sigh :(

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

^ What do you mean dude, they have a new show this year. It was announced on their on-point blog today.

Yes...new show.

No....live band like they used to have.

I really hope CP paints Millenium Force for its 10th birthday and fixes the hill lights to their original brilliant state. I remember looking at the track last year with sad thoughts like, "Man, I'm getting old...and Cedar Point looks like it's dying."

As arguably CP's flagship coaster, this is the one that needs to look its best. I really hope MF has been neglected the past few years because they were planning an overhaul for the 10th anniversary.

Any news on this? I'm going to be kind of shocked if this isn't painted this year...but wouldn't work need to have already started?

Given its size, any paint job will likely stretch over two off-seasons, as it did (I believe) with Magnum. Of course, it would be nice to see them paint the track near MF's entrance/queue and the track on the island first, since those are by far the most visible.

Brandon

Looks like MF won't be getting paint. maXair and SRF will be getting fresh coats this season.

I really can't explain why, but I don't think they will make as big of a deal out of Millennium Force's 10th anniversary, it's just not a big deal. Sure it was the first coaster to go over 300 feet but that didn't seem all that "out there" back then. I think Magnum is a lot more special in terms of ground breaking coasters and I also think Kinzel feels about the same. That is why you saw a celebration for it at 10 and again at 20. As for it getting painted, not going to happen. Tony said that on the last Blog when a reader asked.

^ It's not 99er's fault, but this is for anyone out there who does not agree what MF is special:

MF HAS THE SAME RIGHT TO BE HONORED JUST AS MUCH AS MAGNUM....oooooo, the MAGNUM! so special..........:)

MF does serve a ground-breaking purpose because it topped 300 feet, just like Magnum topped 200.

Besides, MF topped 300 by 10 feet, Magnum only topped 200 by 5 feet! ha ha.

Please stop knocking the Millennium....

It does need a paint job, it's turning PINK!

Why not make it a bizzaro coaster?

:)

Cedar Point is not a Six Flags park

We know.

From what can see, it would be hard to tell if the actual hill needs a paint job, but I agree it's not that big of a deal right now. If they did the bunny hill and the last overbank for now, that would be cool. I agree though, that they should honor Millennium Force, just as much as they did Magnum. It would be nice to see them light up the tower again for Millennium Force. It was awesome seeing it light up It's first 5 years with all the different colors. And Cedar Point should honor Millennium Force for it's 10th year.

I don't think anyone here is saying it shouldn't be honored. I mentioned it won't be as big of a deal as Magnum but even I still think they should mention it. Whether its with lapel pins, t-shirts or just a few banners around the ride. Will there be cake and a huge celebration like with Magnum, I doubt it.
