What do you do for amusement park-like thrills during the off season?

Galloping my horse full speed across the field. With the wind blowing and the speed I can close my eyes and pretend I'm on a coaster :)

I also like to open my truck window and put my arm out and feel the wind. It reminds me of Gemini hand smacking! :)

It's all about getting around the barrels, or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that?

The Richland Mall in Mansfield, OH has a CP simulator its kinda fun. Also I am a huge follower of high school basketball and go to several gyms all around. You would be so suprised how fast that makes the winter go when you follow sports.

Whoa! When did the Richland Mall get a CP simulator? It definitely wasn't there the last time I went home.

Sports do make the winter go by fast. I'm always amazed that it seems like college basketball just started, and then before you know it, its time for March Madness.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Going to the Westfield Franklin Park mall for day after Thanksgiving 5AM shopping... its as big of a rush as charging into cedar point at 10:00AM.... and far more dangerous!

About a 100MPH on backroads (jk) or just taking the road I call the "Roller Coaster Road" for a spin. I like hills. I also play video games.

Ride on, MrScott!

I run.

Or I race, more specifically.

Being a college athlete is a truly unique experience.

Meridian Mall in Okemos Michigan has a CP ride simulator as well. It has like 4 rides on it. I think it is Mean Streak, Gemini, Mantis and Magnum?? Haven't rode it yet, but may have to give it a shot sometime.

I mountian bike. Riding some fast singletrack is very much like riding a rollercoaster. Tight turns, air-time, g forces, and big adrenaline rushes. I ride year round day and night its my first love!

Ha! Westfield. Nice place to go laugh at people.

I see friends indoors for a change. Usually do some school works. Watch on-ride videos and whimper. Go to the movies [no sense in being in the cold.] I cant think of anything I do that would be "pulse pumping". But it makes the first day back to the park that much better.

"Ive got the need, the need for speed!"

Unfortunately, my mall took out its CP simulator. I wish they hadn't, the withdrawl has already set in...I play RCT, which can either help or make the withdrawl worse, depending on the day. The run at Pokagon can be good, but requires good weather. It can't be too cold or it's just miserable standing in line, but it has to be cold enough for a decent freeze and the right precipitation has to be around, kind of like our pond. We rarely get to skate on it because if it freezes while it's windy or with a heavy snow on it, it's pretty much ruined for the rest of the winter. I also stay busy finishing college, working two jobs and doing community theater and dance. The hardest part of the off-season for me comes in March when we start to get those warm days again. The last two months are the worst.

Well my kids and I had our 1st off season COSI Toledo trip today and had a blast. The simulator is realistic enough that I felt as though I had been on Raptor after the 1st ride. It isn't the real thing, but it takes the edge off! The other attractions were just as fun, Boyo, high wire bike, bubbles, extreme science show, etc. I highly recommend this to others in the Toledo area. If you become a member (which we are), you can get in the 200+ the reciprocal museums for free (Great Lakes Science Center, COSI Columbus, etc.).

Also, if you live in Lucas County, Ohio, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE vote in favor of the COSI levy. It is a tremendous local resource that attracts many from the region. We don't live in Lucas County, but plan on sending a check in the amount that our property taxes would be assessed if we were as a donation. We did the same thing last year. Please support COSI Toledo!!

THANK YOU!! :)

Go shooting like Josh said.

In the spring.. Chase Tornadoes

Extreme.... Programming? Sysadmining? I don't know what you'd call it.

And how could I forget? Fantasy Football!

I don't miss the park a ton during the off season and keep busy.

Ugh. Me too. I have wanted to go skydiving since I was thirteen. (I am fifteen now) Only a few months though! :)

Snowboarding is a good replacement too.

If you do live within an hour or so of Angola, Indiana I strongly recommend going to Pokagon State Park and riding the Toboggan Run. It's a great way to spend a cold winter day.

Usually I'll subsist on NoLimits until spring arrives, but this year I'll pick up a few new coasters for my count in Vegas and at Knott's Berry Farm in December. I might even make it over to the Coney Island Cyclone in early spring too. My friends and I keep talking about a February-era trip to Castaway Bay or one of the other 50,000 indoor waterparks within a 50 mile radius, but we're always busy and it never seems to materialize.

Thanks a bunch! I didn't know that web site existed. I also highly recommend it too. :)

FYI. There is also "The Fridge" in Oakland Co., MI and a luge near Muskegon, MI. Cleveland Metroparks also has T-runs near Strongsville. Lake Placid (NY) also has a bob sled run that looks cool. Coaster like thrills for the off season. Snowmobiling is fun too, but not coaster like IMO, more like the winter counterpart to jet skiing.

Enjoy the CP off season, only 6 months left to go.

This is what I am talking about, this is rollercoaster like singletrack, the trails in Fruita Co are among some of the finest in the nation.
So much fun, at least I think so.
