^I agree. You never really see the section of the park near DT, MaxAir, and WT. I wonder why there "was no way to connect it" on top of the building...

It was probably farther than they wanted to have to run cable. It "could" be connected if they were given a large enough budget. Instead, they chose another location that didn't cost them as much for set up.

the picture looks awsome!!!! way better then the old web cams!, but i do wish they would show more of the rides then the people. I can't wait for the next two web cams.
-2007-
Trips- 2 (June 7) (August 24)
Maverick Rides- 5
Millenium Force Rides- 4
Top Thrill Dragster Rides- 3
*Top 5*
1)Maverick 2) Millenium Force 3) Magnum XL 200 4) Top Thrill Dragster 5) Raptor
Can't wait until '08!
Now if only cleveland.com would buy one of these cams.
The clarity is excellent on this (to the point that I could actually see a Raptor train coming over top of the loop, the front seat was just cresting as the pic was snapped).

Wow, that is an amazing picture. Took a while to get the page to come up, all you guys must be hitting their server too hard.
For what it's worth, I've had the old cams minimized on my desktop all day. They are still refreshing images.
Edit: I guess the picture is a little bit fuzzy, but I'm sure they can fine tune it. And on another note, I think I just saw Kinzel. :)

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
Didn't they say we would be able to zoom in and out? Also, I love how we can see CP at night. I think a front entrance cam would be nice.
No, someone asked about it. The actual camera can zoom with the lens and digitally but users cannot because it puts too much stress on the server. They can zoom to a better location though.
And on the Disaster Transport note. Great idea but it is probably too far away from the switch. You only get 100 meters on Cat 5. I dont know what type of cable they use but its hard to do without adding switches and other. Eventually they may purchase more switches but for an amusement park they only really need one or two locations with access so its not economical to have access in that area.

Yeah, it seems that they need to tweak the focus a little bit. But, I agree the night images are sweet. I believe they said one of the others is going atop the fireworks control booth. So, that should be cool at night too.

Back in 2005 they had a webcam up on top of the Johnny Rockets/Games building pointing towards Maxair, WT, DT, and Giant Wheel. I still have some screenshots saved from it.
I would think that they could go buy a ~$50 wireless router to put somewhere inside Johnny Rockets and a wireless enabled Star Dot Net Webcam and set the router so that only the webcam can connect to it (MAC Address Filter). That would be a reasonable way to got a webcam on DT facing the park. Unfortunately they already purchased the webcams and they are not wireless.
They still need to do some tweaking to make the night pictures less blurry and get the focus more on the rides than the people right below the camera. However, it does look like a pretty nice webcam. Now all they need is a live video stream :).

I was just watching the cams (slow day at work) and it amazes me that so many people go straight for raptor as soon as they get in! I know that has been mentioned on here thousands of times that it is a bad idea...just glad I know better I guess.
By the way...someone mentioned zooming the cams...you can click in the bottom right hand side where it says 100% and zoom to 125 and 150%...probably not the zoom most people were hoping for...and after I think about it, its more magnification than zoom, but definitely better than before!

I didn't look at the night images last night. Hopefully I'll remember to check those out soon.

Anyone catch the great image of Cedar Point taken over by the fog? I know this has occured many times before, but still a great shot from the webcam.

You didn't happen to take one at the higher resolution did you? I'd love to use it for my desktop.

Unfortunately ... No. By the time I saved the first picture to my computer and went back to the webcam page (a matter of a couple mins) the fog had all cleared out!
Well, file that away for next time.
Always snag webcam pics at their highest resolution. ;)

I was going to say ... maybe Tony got it in high resolution because of the new post on the Cedar Point blog, but I think it's the same one I posted. Same time, unless that's a coincidence ;)
