DSS, did you happen to get a pic of the tree cell tower or did I miss it in your post? They put one of those at Pine Knob (DTE Music Theater) just north of Detroit and it actually looks pretty good there.

It looks really out of place at Cedar Point. In most cases they blend into the background or are at least around other trees. This one is obvious and had they just kept it a grey metal tower, it might have blended in better.

No, my wife was taking a few pics as we came into the park. I don’t think she got one. I’m heading back to the marina on Tuesday so I’ll see if I can grab a pic.

You can see it through the tollbooths in the picture linked below.

Yeah I thought the same thing, a plain tower wouldn't look that bad. Or perhaps make it look like a lighthouse with a similar façade as the new toll booth structure?
What are you guys talking about? The new tower look totally fits in with the park because it's suppose to look like a CEDAR tree. :P

Isn't that the tower that was put up 2 years ago? If so, it was surrounded by trees until they are got removed over the winter to expand parking.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

It is, which makes its appearance and placement now even more of an eyesore. It almost worked when it was surrounded by actual trees but now it looks, strange.
It will be just fine for guests forced to park waaaaay back there.

"Honey, it's right by that fake pine tree!"

Lone Pine Mall :-)
It was in either the HW or SF statement about plans to reopen that referred to social distancing in the parking lot. Not sure what that means but if it is parking checkerboard style some may have to park waaaaay back there. :)
May have referred to the opening line from the front gate that will stretch into the parking lots If groups are kept 6ft apart.

One thing to keep in mind is that if parks are targeting mid to late June openings, there is a chance that social distancing guidelines will be scaled down a bit.
I used to think a May 2021 opening was a pessimistic thought. Now, I'm wondering if that's an optimistic thought. If they want to open in 2020 (short of a vaccine or a remedy) that might have to get extremely creative.
