unless they want the train to crash into the connector pole....it is upside down.

probably part of an overbank.

It's true that CP does try, but I would love to see a ride landscaped the way Corkscrew is! They really went all out for this ride. Take a look around the Corkscrew next time your the park. If every part of the park looked like this, the quality of atmostphere would definately go up. As far as a 400 footer goes, why not save the trees under the 400 ft part, or at least plant new trees there, because we all know the trees would never reach track height.
Well I was there today and all I have to say is that this thing is going to be massive. As usual pics were taken and can be seen here for everyone to enjoy http://www.setecx.com/pics/cp91402const/ I shrunk them down a bit for dialup users. If the full size pics are desired let me know and I will put them up or something.

Before I forget, check out the pic with the red track bolted to the white track. So much for dueling...

What I find most interesting are those catwalks. Why on earth would they need them at that point on the supports? I guess that solves some of the mystery of some of the strange yellow pieces, they're probably for the catwalks.

I am guessing the structure will house a high overbank and the catwalk will be some type of brake run access area in case the train needs to be evacuated.

I own you!

Ok, when I was there today I was comparing pieces in the lot with what was already erected.

Here is the piece with the supports for the catwalk http://www.setecx.com/pics/cp91402const/catwalk.jpg It is the only piece like it on the whole structure.

There are 2 more identical to that piece in the parking lot so far, as seen here http://www.setecx.com/pics/cp91402const/PICT0050.html

The next part is the piece that is sticking out here http://www.setecx.com/pics/cp91402const/PICT0047.html

My guess is that there will be at least two more of what is already erected stacked on top of it. Each with a catwalk. The piece that sticks out I would guess is for a stairway to mount onto. If you look in those pics you will see a opening in the railing right about there. So there will probably be stairs to get up to the top of whatever is going to be up there. Just my guess of the height of that and how it will look based on what I saw today.

Be still my beating heart. This thing is going to be massive. No I definitly will have to plan a trip to CP.

BTW - Nice pics thrillseeker!

Wow, I am really excited now! I kind of wish I was going to CP instead of Michigan's Adventure tommorow. Oh, well, I guess I'll have to wait until next week.

This thing is going to be HUGE.
When it's finished, and we get to ride it...won't it be a little weird to be looking down a 100 feet and see MF? :)

The pieces with the fins attached are for the brake run. The magnetic brakes are of the same variety as those found on MF. The only difference is that the fins are now on the track and the magnets on the underside of the trains (reverse setup). This has to be done to accomodate the hardware needed for the launch mechanism. You can see this setup on Xcelerator in the background of this photo:

You can see the same fins on the launch.

Although I will say that the launch has box track.

Speaking of Xcelerator, does anybody know how big it's layout is compared to "Area 51 and Beyond's" clearing?

Those fins on the launch are basically magnetic anti-rollback devices. When the train is launched, the fins are lowered, and once the train clears the section during launch, they pop back up. If for some reason the train doesn't make it over the top hat, the brakes kick in and keep the train from crashing into the station.

Man! I never thought about that. That's really weird to think about. Depending on which way the train is launched into the top hat, MF may be straight in front of you coming of the top hat. Dude, this will be awesome!

Yes, you'll be higher than Millie, which will be cool, but it's not like you'll have time to sit there and look around like you do going up Millie's lift :)
