Vertical Construction Has Begun!

Can anyone tell if the helix is done? I'd love to see some pictures of anyone has any.

From the webcam it looks just about finished.

Track will be completed today according to the updated schedule.

As I stated on Monday. The track will be complete today. Although some of you were questioning that because of the weather we were supposed to get. The grading is being started for the front gate and soon you will start to see some forming for concrete and pavers.

If you look at the station cam, you can see the track coming out of the helix. It looks like they are about 2-3 pieces away from being done.

It looks now like 1 piece to go. Will they have special ceremony when the connect the last piece?

Yes, the helix is done...in fact, the entire circuit will be 100% by the end of today. The webcam is shown that there is 1, yes I said 1 piece remaining. Should be put in within the hour at the rate they are going :)

I am gonna say it again..this coaster is gorgeous :)

This might seem like an obvious statement, but Gatekeeper track looks brighter than Millennium Force. Can anyone confirm the color difference? Isn't Millennium Force track like a cobalt blue? What is Gatekeeper considered?

Azure blue and Strata blue :)

This isn't really related to Cedar Point, but if all I've seen and heard is true, it looks like King's Island is getting a big coaster next year. 308 feet tall is rumored based on a tweet from a while time ago. Check out the last couple pages of the King's Island thread at TPR to see what I'm talking about.

If this turns out to be true, it looks like Cedar Fair is still being sure to keep Millennium as the tallest giga in the chain.
