Vertical Construction Has Begun!

^ I think this is the area that he's talking about:

Even though I don't think it's true, you can tell it's an easy fix with cutting off the 2' overhang that's on the side, if it's more than that, then we have a bigger problem. Otherwise that specific area is the stroller rental area next store to the bathrooms. The right outer wall would have to be altered (torn down) and rebuilt with cinder blocks, wouldn't be that tough. Another solution would be to take off the far back right sheltered area facing the parking lot and not allowing any access back there. I'm thinking if this is the case, they'll do that and cut more off the right side. I suppose this "problem" is possible but I'm kinda with TTD, where did you hear this tidbit?

I think it sucks that they have to wait to install the next section of track. I know they are waiting for the keyholes but the weather lately has been so nice and they could have gotten a lot done if they were ready to move on.

Hopefully they don't have to altar either building that much considering they're already spending 30 million on the whole project alone. CPfan, if they did have to altar this building, would they end up moving that building back more? Also Bossmccann, I think the construction workers are all helping out with the station work until they get the key holes. That's a guess from me.

Well I know they are doing something while they wait, but I remember in December all the days the couldn't operate the crane to add track because of the weather. And now there is great weather but they don't need to add track

Shawn, if that building was truly in the way (I don't think it really is), they would probably either raze the building or, more realistically, modify the structure to accommodate the needed space. However, I highly doubt they'd overlook something like surrounding buildings in the planning and design of the ride's layout. They obviously planned to demolish part of those pavilions so I don't think they'd be "OH NO! There's actually a building here? I didn't think to include this in the design!"

I'm not saying it's impossible that they might come a little too close but, in this case, it's very unlikely. Especially since they cant do a pull through until the track is finished. That's when they'd know, for sure, if the track is too close to a building or brings the train arms too close to the ground.

^ Can they do any measurements before they do a pull through? I'm sure these guys do a lot of math everyday so if there is a building too close they can modify it before it does any damage to the trains or the buildings. Thanks for answering my question. :)

Well guys we shouldnt have to wait to much longer looks like the keyholes are complete and ready to ship...

Nice picture, and yeah we should see our next element of track in less than 2 weeks!

I am going to suggest that the awning that still remains on the back of the stroller/bathroom building as can be seen in this picture http://www.cprundown.com/1/post/2013/01/off-season-tour.html , will and has always been planned to eventually be torn down so this issue of clearance on that corner is moot.

I believe this has been left in place as a temporary shelter area during the bulk of the construction.

Well TTD I didn't say that GK was going through the building. I was told that the new surveying that was being done showed that the trains clearance was too close to the roof of the restroom "area" . As of right now nothing will be torn down until the track is assembled through there. As far as getting my information I will not reveal what I do at the park and I don't claim I know all that is going on because I don't know. This is information that I do know. If you would like to know about the lighting in the station I can tell you all about it.

^Well I would like to know about the station lighting...

cpfourlife1 here you go.

I can tell you that most of the fixtures are LED. The track, pendent, recessed and globe lights are all LED. Other than that flourescent and halogen on the rest. The track lighting is by Bruck Lighting and also is Juno Lighting. The Bruck is in a Matte Chrome and Juno is a DieCast Aluminum. The decorative Pendent light which is made by JESCO Lighitng is going to have a Cobalt Blue shade. Other Pendent made by Acculite. How is that for starters?

Looking at recent pictures of that area, I knew where you were coming from rippin. I'm not necessarily doubting you or even the information you heard. Just saying that it seems weird, to me, to know something like this before the track is in and a pull through was done.

But, then again, I wouldn't be surprised if there's some kind of survey they can do to find this kind of information out. Can't blame me for being skeptical. :)

Do you know any of the details for the entrance plaza or the lighting on the trains?

Maverickoo,

I haven't seen anything about the lighting on the trains themselves. I would like to know. Just a lot of hear say. I have heard something like headlights and also LED's on the side of the train. As far as the entrance plaza it will be done in brick and steel with LED accents with some sconce lights by Gardco Lighitng and also some Lektron LED rope lights that are pretty incredible.

I just noticed the crane finally moved it's position on the webcam and is doing some work on the 1st keyhole.

New OnPoint Blog Update. Keyholes to be here tomorrow.

Nope. I'm going to wait until Friday. Nothing for me to ask at the moment, plus we now have recent pictures of the first keyhole. I also want to point out that it's quieter without me asking dumb questions. ;)

Hmmm. I swear I read Shawns post last night... now it's saying it was posted 27 minutes ago.
