The 201 foot claims were from the PRs, ride sign, and brochures, 203 feet was mentioned in several newscasts, and then of course came the current 205 foot advertisements.
The "Roller Coaster Data Base" claims that it was the addition of a three foot weather vane (pole) that brought the ride to it's 205 foot mark. Since the pole is three feet tall my guess is that 203 foot newscasts were a mistake, and the 205 foot advertisements are rounded figures.

I don't think the lights on MF will dim any more, or at least they shouldn't. The first year, the people who made the rubber seals in the lighting instruments didn't allow them to cure properly. They slowly vaporized, and that stuff began to coat the optics, blocking much of the light (making it appear dim). Once cleaned up and fitted with new seals, all was well.

Useless info: The original location for Ricpcord was the beach near the hotel breakers. Part of the ride was going to be on the island of the lazy river in Soak City. There are some park maps out there from '96 that show Ripcord on the beach.
