Update: August 22

Cedar Fair, LP copyrighted the name Maverick earlier this year, ThrillerRollercoast. The assumption is that this new ride is going to be called Maverick.

Wonder why they're drywalling already when they don't even have a roof on yet? Then again, that could be some material other than drywall. I guess they need to get something up there for the electricians to start mounting their panels to.

I was thinking the same thing, but when I went looking I couldnt find an example of them drywalling then I realized the last 3 buildings they have put up have been all block (MF, WT & TTD). Why would they decide to make this buiding out of wood? Unless they are planning on putting wood siding to match the area... I don't, know just a few thoughts....

You hit the nail on the head (no pun intended) as far as to why this building is wood.

It'll be themed to match the old WWL station as my best guess.

It was brought up a few months ago as to why they weren't more careful when they were loading and unloading the supports. I believe that we won't be seeing much of the supports after a period of time. In this case, the paint job won't matter much. *** Edited 8/23/2006 4:19:25 AM UTC by Loopy***

I dont think that is drywall,it looks like foam insulation board. You cant put drywall up if it is going to get rained on,even the waterproof has its limits.

It is foam board.

I agree the outside is Foam board but the stuff they put up on the inside of the building since I took pictures on the 19th is definitely drywall. They've even put tape and mud over the seams already... I wonder if that is not regular drywall but cement backer board. That would give them a higher safety margin if any fires broke out inside the building and is also more waterproof than regular drywall... who knows, maybe the roof will show up tomorrow and that will be that... ;)

Haha probably will. I agree, not drywall.

. Also, fisheye lenses aren't THAT expensive, if you're a photographer using the professional equipment, fisheyes are on the low end (around $200)

To me that is expensive.

I think Cedar Point is teasing us a litte. I think they have a little of the track up, but I also, think this coaster is going to be big in length. I do not know how big as in height it will be, but I think we will have a good long coaster. I sure hope its not a short coaster, I don't really like short coasters but there are a few I liked (like corkscrew). Who knows this just my opinion.

I'm going now to watch tv and sleep goodnight.

Did anyone else look at this picture and think they were watching a Chevy commercial?

The site is really shaping up. All of these updates are great. I can't wait to see the area for myself in less than a week!

See they're giving up the whole "like a rock" slogan and going with "Chevy, like an Intamin steel coaster!";)

It's kind of like the way I always thought that Dodge dealerships in the Sandusky area could make a great promo commerical for their Magnum using the coaster.

Little Leslie; this is not to piss you off, so please don´t get upset. :)

When I´m reading throught the threads, I notice that you make a lot of double posts. Did you know that you can use the "edit" button to edit any previous post? In that case, you don´t need to make a double post. :) This might sound weird to you, that I care about this - but when you read through the threads, doubleposts causes you to be thrown off track + they fill up an unnecessary lot of space.

This applies to everyone of course. ;)

Oh, and let me repeat; I´m not mad at you at all (like your friend haltd ;) ) - I just wanted to let you know. :)

(see what I mean about the doubleposting?) :)

Has anyone looked at the webcam and looked at the alignment of the other supports, looks like the track is going under the bunny hop, nice...

I seriously doubt that track will be routed under the existing hill that was finished yesterday, for two reasons.

#1 - It would run into the train.

#2 - It would run into the train.

EDIT: I guess there was a third reason too... there's no footers on the outside of that hill between the train and the "bunny hop".

Yeah, I thought maybe I was going crazy, since I wasn't seeing what they were talking about.

Brandon

I just received an email from a friend who is erecting the ride, and he said that all the track is to be layed out by early December. Reason is because the testing of the ride is gonna take so long.

Ride-on

Why is that little bunny hill super supported?

Or is it just me thinking it is?
