TTD Running Smoothly

PKevin2004: It was down Tuesday from what appearred to be a problem with the hydraulics again. They had a crane pulling out pumps. Didn't stay and watch for long so I don't know if they put anything back in or took any more out. Cue_Tip and I were out there in line at 9 when they said it would be up later that day. We still waited since only a select few rides are open at that time. About 10:15 they announced it would be down for the day.

EDIT: To better clarify what i'm talking about, they pulled out the red rectangular motors on the end of the cable drum in this picture.

Will_1205 - thanks, hopefully it will be up again when i go in the next two weeks - been there three times this year, down all three times, but as long as i get in free (working at michigan's adventure), and it only costs $35 between gas and food, ill keep coming back until i can ride that beast.

I just got back from two days at the CP with my family about an hour and a half ago. Yesterday (7/9) TTD ran pretty consistantly all day, although it was down for 15-20 minutes occaisonally all day. Today was a different story though. After waiting out the rain this morning and watching 2 rollbacks and 2 very near rollbacksduring testing, we were let in and I hopped in the back right seat, first train of the day. Launch succesful and everything, but waited in the brake run while the ops, Monty, and what I believe were some Intamin guys pushed the other trains into the station. At this point it was after 1pm and we headed off to do other stuff in the park. As far as I could tell TTD ran at least as consistantly as it did the day before, until sometime after 3pm, when we noticed that TTD was not running at all. Later as we were leaving the park and walking by TTD we saw Monty and other various mechanics/Intamin guys working right where the sled grabs the train. Upon further inspection welding tools were scattered and the same blue tarp was up as it was last week to shield guests from the welding. As confirmed by an above post, they were working on the brake fins for the sled.

BTW: If any of you was one of the people we talked to while waiting out the rain (we were the family in the back car), it was nice talking to you guys.

If I read your post correctly than a similiar thing happened wednesday morning during resort ERT. The trains wouldn't roll through the farthest unload block. The kicker wheels weren't catching or something so the crew had to push the train through the block. It was raining earlier so maybe the wheels were wet or something maybe? Anyways we waited for front and got in. We were in the 2nd train and we pulled up to the transfer block. The first train shot off and made it. We pulled up to the launch block and everything seemed ok but then the christmas tree lights went off then the engine noise turned off. A crew person came out and told us it went down and should be up any moment. We waited for about 5 minutes and one of the workers came out and told us they were going to manually release bars and let us go back into station. Waited 10 minutes in station as they tried to again get the train to go through the block. Finally they got it back up and we got our ride in. My first walk off/down on any coaster. I thought it was pretty cool.

this looks bad, every ttd train is on the transfer tracks. maybe they're adding the scenery again :)

I was at CP yesterday 7/10, and was on the train for Dragster when it broke down around 3 and the told us to go back into the station. I couldn't see much of what the mechanics were doing, but about 10 of them eventually showed up, and several were going up the launch track, stopping at each cross bar, presumably looking at the brake fins. Later, I heard a guy on the midway telling his friend in the station that they had replaced a brake fin by the part where the train begins its launch, and either that had not worked, or a new problem had come about.

At around 6 they had water dumbies on two of the trains, but around 7 all but one of the trains were on the transfer track, and some still had water dumbies in them. Something tells me this could be some extensive downtime again.

Could it simply be down because of high winds today?

I just got back from the park. It could have been because of the winds because Raptor was down due to the winds. However, there were several mechanics working on the brake fins between the launch and the grandstand and underneath the track in that area as well

It wasn't because of the wind. Something else broke this time, but they hope to have it back up tomorrow.

DELETED! What time does the water show start?

I forgot to mention this earlier. If it was already mentiones .. please excuse. When I was at the park on the 9th. while in line for TTD I noticed that when the break fins dropped they all went down except one set just in front of the bleachers. the train was still launching right over them as if they were not even there. but they were always up no matter what.. while in line it broke down 4 times but they never looked near the fins.. maybe that is what they were doing today. as I have heard people talking of them being by the fins and underneath etcc... anyway just a thought..

TTD=8. MF=80. Raptor 100+ Magnum. 250+ lost count.

Did it slow down the trains at all? You would think that it would.
If it was alone one set then it probably wouldn't slow it down. Think about how many sets of fins there are (at least 100) and think about how fast the train passes over each one. It would take a lot more fins to slow a train down. I don't know for sure, but it makes since.

That seems to be a recurring problem on TTD, I've noticed that, on numerous occasions, a set of brake fins, somewhere along the launch, will not go down right away, and will only go down after the train has passed, if I'm not mistaken, WT had the problem of damaging the LIMS because they were out of alignment, I suppose the same could happen here on TTD with the brake fins....

"What time does the 10 pm laser show start?"

coasterguy76 - Yes, that is the area they were working on today. I was on the ramp Wednesday at 9:20pm when it broke down for about a half hour. They were working under the track at the launch position. I got my ride in but I believe it broke down again about 20 minutes later.

Maverick did you happen to see me? I was at the corner of the station waiting in line for the front, I had on my TTD shirt with GTTP Coasterkaiser on the left sleeve.

coasterguy76 - When i was there on the 10th, I am 99% sure that all the brake fins went up soon after the train went by, and that they all went down before it launched.
I saw them go down too.
When I was at CP on July 6th one of the problems of the day were that one of the brake fins weren't going down when it launched so the train would slow down one or two mph and not make it over the top very well.
Today (Sunday 13th) Dragster was up and running, with 5 trains. I got on around 5 or so, and it took 50 minutes to go through the queues and get on!!! Went back for seconds around 7 :30, and had just an hour wait!!! Awesome ride, awesome!!!
Deanne, what time did Dragster open? did it open with the park or open later on in the day?
