Yes, I want to see the piece that looks painful.

2009--Dragster Photo

I'm not sure if I have a picture of the painful looking piece now that I think about it. I saw it when I was leaving today on perimeter road. Anywho it looks identical to an upside-down "u" but not so much for the 90 degreez on both sides.

Yeah, got some pictures of the track on site today... some of the more interesting pieces of you ask me. One almost looks like a double-up/double-down.

It aired last Friday and was incredibly lame.

Was it? Well, I'm glad I missed it then. I was hoping that it would've been a nice program.

Androo,

So it was just a sharp hill? That wouldn't be a hill for a launched coaster if it's a sharp hill. I wouldn't think that physics would allow that...unless it's a second or third hill......hhmmmmm

The two pieces are pretty tight but I don't think it's anything too extreme.

Yeah, they have a few pics of it over at TPOL, and that sure does look like a double up/down to me.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

I'm glad someone agrees.

By the way BlueStreak64, was it you that asked why they use the metal spacers? I found out they're used just to balance the support, in case the footer isn't perfectly level.

What's a double up/ down??

On a normal hill, you go up and then down. A double up would be if you go up, then level off and then go up again. A double down would be the opposite.

There's supports all over the project area! This week should be exciting.

DBCP, are you referring to the closest piece in image 06-041?

Yes, that's the one.

I saw the track today in the middle of the construction area. It was only 2 or 3 pieces but one was that piece with the little dip in it. I would also like to mention that the supports aren't very tall as of yet. I hope this thing goes near 200 feet!

Where do you see lots of large supports, or even a large enough space for a 200 foot hill? What makes a tall coaster so much fun in the first place?

Raptor and Blue Streak are two of my favorite rides and both of them don't even come close to 200 feet. Blue Streak doesn't even pass 100. Height doesn't matter, what the ride does and the feeling you get while riding it matters. To me at least. Drop rides, observation towers, and ferris wheels are the only rides that need to be tall.

Why would a double up be used? Is that only if there is not enough room to continue going higher. Because, that is the reason I use that in RCT3.

So, you ride up the first hill, level off, than slowly turn 180 or 90 degrees, than climb the second hill?

Amen to that. I'm sick of "highest is the best", when rides get that high, you usually have no clue what's going on and aren't able to experience the ride. A good example of this is Dominator at Geauga Lake, it's tall and fast and has a nice layout, but if it were shorter and slower, the ride would be more enjoyable because you'd be able to experience each element and know you experienced it. A ride which achieves this well is Hydra which is the perfect height and speed so that every element can be felt and enjoyed.

Also, from experience, even the people in the GP are getting sick of highest and fastest seeing as most people think that Kingda Ka is overrated when it's a 3-6 hour wait for a 17 second bumpy ride that has no view whatsoever and the worst restraints ever on a coaster.

Anymore, the layout is where it's at and if a ride has a horrible layout, but has speed and height, then it's worthless. Cedar Point already has the gigantic Top Thrill Dragster, which has speed and height, but no layout. I think that by going in a whole new direction, Cedar Point is going to be working more on layout and thrills that way instead of speed and height.

That's not what a double up is, a double up is where the ride goes up, levels out for about 10 feet, then goes up again, usually to create quick airtime or because there is already something else there that the track has to avoid.
