Toy Factory is gonna blow your mind

I wouldn't mind going out to either Knott's Scary Farm or Halloween Horror Nights someday, or perhaps even both.

We're 8 days away from opening night!

Can anyone say how long the lines will be? I mean there are only what, 4 hours that the haunted houses/attractions are open? Assuming the park is crowded, if the lines are over 2 hours long you can only hit like two attractions, right?

Are we talking like 5 hour lines for Toy Factory?

No clue. Halloweekends don't start for another week.

Like others have said - you really never know, but my experience has been that the haunted houses and scare zones really thin out the lines for the rides. Plus there are some people who don't want to do the "scary stuff"....

I've been there on some pretty busy Halloweekend saturdays, and I think the longest I've ever waited to get into one of CP's haunted attractions is an hour and a half for Werewolf Canyon.

In years past when Ive gone on a more crowded day the key is to be there when they open. I would line up for Lair of the Vampire, go through it, and then proceed directly to Pharaoh's after. I got on and through both those mazes in under an hour, but by the time I got out the queues for each were >60 min. So, based on that I bet you could make a choice: Undertaker U or 2 of these three: Eerie Estates, Club Blood, Happy Jack with short waits right when they open.

I'll tell you now last year there were numerous Saturday's where there was a line to get into Terror Island. But the line formed well before 8 and by 8:30-8:45 the line was gone and it was a normal walk right on in zone. But houses will all depend on good they are and attendance that night.

I wonder if the Halloweekends crowds will be down 10% like what many have said the regular season crowds were?

I think crowds will be up during Halloweekends. Because of the economy, I see a lot of families that normally go twice a year (once in the summer, once in the fall), only going going during Halloweekends this season.

^^ depends on the weather. Last year = perfect

Last year I had great luck on my halloweekends. The only 2 times I had real lines were on WWC and UU. I do tend to go early in the halloweekends though. I hope to see all you screamsters there because even if I dont become a late addition you can bet I am still gonna go!

I agree with Neglegence, the only real lines I encountered last year was for CornStalkers (was confused with the former zone name: WWC) -- and UU.
CornStalkers queue was loooooong (over 1.5 hours) and completely full the whole time I was there (and this was on a Sat.). I believe it was new for last season, so of course everyone wanted to see it. They really were cranking people through the zone. The line was just massive and did not let up.

I was suprised by the line for UU. It was not very seemingly big of a line but it moved very very slow. I believe that one took about 45 mins but 15-20 mins of that time the line did not move one bit at all for some reason.

By the time I got done with CornStaklers, Terror Island was a walk on and very awesome as it was super dark by then and almost no wind and creepy quiet for screams.

I also agree with Touchdown -- the key is to get their when they open. Unfortunalty I did not heed that piece of advice last year and was shocked at the crowds I saw when we did get there mid afternooon on Sat. (granteded the weather was absolutly perfect that day). Between the extra time I was not expecting and burned in line for Maverick and CornStalkers, that left me unable to get to Club Blood (which I plan to get to this year).

They are open for 4 hours on Friday nights. Saturdays and Sundays they are open for 7 hours.

Aside from the first 30 minutes or so on Saturday nights, Terror Island should always be a walk on, since there is no "grouping" like at Corn Stalker and the indoor houses.

Some slightly spoilery Info I got last night (which by the way was amazing, walk on to Maverick the whole night) they had the lights and music on in Toy Factory. The doll face on the front not only sways from side to side but the left eye will "doll eye" blink it looks great. There is a new delivery truck outside of the entrance emblazed with the phrase "Happy Jack Toys: We bring toys to life." Also right next to the enterance is a gigantic Jack in the Box that looks just like the logo, judging by the springs this thing might actually pop in and out when on too. From the midway, you could hear the music, at the end of the ride there is a bunch of crying babies and the exit tunnel has a bunch of naked baby dolls on both sides which appear to be all very well endowed males or they have a hose affixed at that spot to spew something out (fog?) Also the front door was open and the lights were on, this maze starts with a mirror maze. You could hear creapy music sounding like it is coming from a jack in the box. Cant wait to go through it in a few weeks.

Eeire estates has a gigantic metal structure that has been placed on the Joe Cool Cafe side of the building, looks like that will be the queue enterance.

Lastly, I cant believe how fast those decorations can go up, with the exception of Frontiertown and the Trail every other area of the park looked 90% done.

How many people does everyone think there will be on Halloween Night? It is the last Saturday of the year, and that's the only day I could go. Is it usually crowded?

It should be somewhat crowded...I wouldn't say too long of lines but they should be what you would normally see in the summer.

I was fortunate enough to be at the Media Event last night, and we go to tour Happy Jack's, Eerie Estate, Boo Hill, and Monster Central. After seeing both the new houses, I will say that Happy Jack's was very creepy, and this is before there were any monsters inside. The design is incredible, and you can see where some great effects will be.

I have to say, however, that Eerie Estate is going to make everything else look 2nd rate. The work they've done in the old admin building is jaw-dropping. The best thing about it is that there aren't any compromises. The level of detail is unlike anything else the park has (Happy Jack's shares this attribute - both have incredible layers of theming), but they don't sacrifice length for quality. Walking through, it didn't seem like it was going to end. Even though it's a very long haunt, there isn't any wasted (dead?) space. Each room transitions into the next, and you honestly wonder if you're ever going to reach the end. I recommend trying to get through it more than once just so you can appreciate the detail.

I had the oppertunity to speak to Mr. Taylor as part of the tour, and I have to tell you how awesome he is. When we complimented the level on detail in Eerie Esate (as it was the first we went thru last night), he just grinned from ear to ear and said "don't forget Happy Jack's," obviously proud of the work he's done.

I'm not going to give away any details, but be on the lookout in the first main room of Happy Jack's for a familiar face.

All in all, last night's event was among the best media event I've been to, and I can't wait for you all to see the new haunts. They are truly world class.

Everything he said is absolutely true. Both new haunts are incredible. In my opinion, the level of detail in the haunts, especially Eerie Estate, rivals what Disney could do in a similar space.

Here are just a few photos to give you a sneak peek. No spoilers here. In fact, I purposely didn't use one photo because I thought it gave away a good scare location. And, no, the photos don't do it justice.

Hopefully Jeff is going to be able to do another behind-the-scenes video this year. Jeff, I think John Taylor would make an excellent tour guide. :)

I was hesitant to use the Disney comparison - but you're right. The new haunts, especially Eerie Estate are 100% Disney quality. If the rumor is true about Undertaker U getting a makeover next year, I am already anxious to see the results.

And I agree completely that Mr. Taylor would be an excellent tour guide. What a character.
