I'd agree with you in that we're not likely to see a new coaster next year, but that doesn't some other type of ride isn't in the works. Something smaller, like a water coaster, flume ride or a flat could easily be built after the season has come to a close.
Brandon
All of the other coasters that have been started for next year are already well under way with footings and track arrival.
All the ones you know about, anyway. I'm not claiming a coaster is going in, but on the other hand if an unannounced coaster *hadn't* had footers/track appear, well, we'd have no idea, would we?
(And, is this true of the SFGAdv woody going in for '06? I don't honestly know.)
Perhaps a Roller Soaker? They could add another coaster and a water ride at the same time. The area with the markings is pretty wide open for people to walk under and "interact" with the trains, like at Hershey Park. It could even go over the lines for Snake River Falls.
That's my un-educated guess. I really don't know.
I am the only one who remember NOTHING in the means of construction taking place until mdi-Oct for the roller coaster Wicked Twister?
I have an aritcle about Mantis' construction and according to it they didn't even even start draining the lagoon until after the park closed for the season.
On a different note, I passed along the blog link to an old engineer friend of mine and this is his respond:
"I would not get too excited about these types of drawings, we see them all the time, and it does not mean a whole lot.
These types of drawings are just ideas being worked out to see if some idea could be done, or if it would work.
Also, these types of drawings are done for pricing to see how much some idea would cost.
But you could always hope that it’s the next big thing!!!!"
x3ro:
They have a habit of being brutally cryptic yet devilishly tantalizing in their responses... all we have is hope.
EDIT: We should bombard them with well-crafted questions... any ideas?

I think that the print was created just for this particular blog entry. The paper size seems to be small, most real prints are larger plotted prints. This paper seems to be a 8.5x11 sheet of paper. I think it is just simply a prop for the Blog entry and has no real information on it related to the project. I believe there is a project underway in the museum area but I think this is just more of a well executed marketing plan by the park to keep a buzz around the story.

278 coasters and still counting!
Perhaps a Roller Soaker?
Maybe, but they don't have the capacity you'd really want---PCar's is listed in rcdb as 600 PPH. That's with a single load/unload station, so you could maybe bump it up some with split stations, but maybe not by much. So, if it is a setpoint soaker, I'd expect a dual installation, a la the Primeval Whirl(s) in WDW's Animal Kingdom.
All I gotta is say is "meh." Meh to the maX.
My prediction is that the print is real, but they clearly planted it in the garbage can (I'm not getting into that though). Even if it is a mega-ultra-super-coaster, it doesn't mean it's an official plan. Like CoasterRider said, it could be ideas, how much things cost, etc etc. The dirt is also placed there on purpose.
So basically, what I'm saying is, take everything with a grain of salt. I just say "meh."
2005/2006: Cedar Point - Millennium Force
2007/2008/2009: Walt Disney World - Magic Kingdom - Tomorrowland Speedway
2008: Hard Rock Park - Maximum RPM! Opening Supervisor
2008/2009: Universal Orlando - Men in Black: Alien Attack Team Leader, Guest Services Coordinator
Coaster Freak:
You're probably (see also: definitely) right about the print. The paper is way too small to have a font that large... a real print scaled down to 8.5x11 would be nearly unreadable. Although, I do think the plans on the paper could actually be for something noteworthy...

Really? Wake me up in 2006, and I'll ride the new circular. Shall we start taking bets?

2007 - Top Thrill Dragster
2005 - Magnum XL-200/Camp Snoopy/Monster/Witches Wheel
Depends on how they scaled it. You could easily scale the drawing and use a border developed specifically for an 8.5/11 so that its readable.
CoasterRider: When Mantis was built, the season didn't go much past the first weekend or 2 of September. Now, with the season stretching to the end of October (how long before we see them trying November weekends?) They are cutting pretty good into what used to be the best construction time. I know I would rather be busting out 15 hour days in September and October so that when January and February roll around we don't have to to make schedule. Those south Erie winters are almost as bad as West Michigan winters.
Goodbye MrScott
John
Or Keweenaw winters for that matter...
Jugga:
Thats kinda what I was sayin'... that particular print was created as a prop, but could actually contain real plans within...

I posted this over on coasterbuzz as well.

I took the picture off the blog and put it in photoshop and drew with the pencil tool over the obvious lines.
The top 2 pictures were "enhanced" which brought out some deeper lines.
The top picture has increased contrast, the 2nd was lightened quite alot and then the bottom one is what I could see.
The few red lines show what I would assume to be there other than that, all the other lines are what I honestly think is on the drawing.
It still doesnt look like much to me though.

Now tell me Cedar Point is running out of space.
I personally think that the paper was put there just for the picture because who leaves a paper hanging out of a garbage can with possible construction plans on it? However, I can definetly see this being something, maybe not anything big, but I'm assuming it's something.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
Check out this crude enhancement of the photo done in photoshop, using sharpen edges filter followed by crude highlighting of recognizable lines.

Anyone have any ideas?
Brian Noble,
The 600 PPH would been Millennium Force early this season. I couldn't find any good pics of the Primeval Whirl's station, but would Cedar Point perhaps load two at once like Dragser?
If they are putting in a water attraction, which is currently what I think is going to happen, the water coaster would have better capacity than anything else I can think of that they would put in. Plus, the interaction between the riders on the coaster and the ground, would give lots of people stuff to do.
