The Stupid Queue Wall

Who would I direct my letter to about the wall?

Regarding that other issue, Matt, I'll be joining you in writing Mr. Sphen.

Didn't you guys know It's for the new Airconditioning system the park is putting in ;)

Don't you hate it when you try to say something funny but only YOU laugh?

I'm honestly not sure who to write to and I could be wrong, but I would say probably Rob Decker, Vice President of Planning and Design. He seems to be the one in charge of all the theming elements of the ride as well as the station design, etc.

Born To Ride The Rollercoaster

Wow! Reading this thread, and looking at what people have written, I have realized one very important thing:

We are all really spoiled. We are so used to the greatest Amusement Park on Earth, and all the great things about it, we start complaining about minor details that in the big picture are rather insignificant. We are lucky however, in that CP cares about our comfort and satisfaction, and as such, I bet they will listen to our concerns, and do something with the wall, even if its not until next year. Just look at the mat at WT! As Jeff stated in another thread, a small detail that really matters.

Since we are all spoiled, and expect nothing but the best (which CP delivers 95% of the time), I say we should just let the people in the park know our feelings, and if enough of us do this, the wall will be changed by next year.

I agree, I do not like the wall either. However, Raptor has a wall as well. I would rather be able to see what is going on, especially during the break downs. I think part of the walls purpose is so people on the outside can not see how long the line is.
Well, that's a stupid reason to have a wall. It's not good busisness practice to keep your customers in the dark.

Raptor's wall and TTD's wall are two totally different things. Raptor's wall is not confining, nor does it really even block any signifigant view of the ride. Have you ever seen dozens of people standing on the rails to see over Raptor's wall, or heard loads of people complaining about it? I haven't.

I have not had a ride on TTD yet, nor have I seen this wall, but while reading this, I was wondering, is it a concrete wall? What is it made of? Is there any pictures of it?
Is there a picture of it anywhere?

Up!

Parks been to: IOA, USF, MK, Epcot, BGW, Opryland, SFOG, SFKK

Going to CP in June!!

Perhaps someone can bring this up at the question and answer session at Coastermania June 6th! And maybe only then could we find out the real reason for its existence.

Unfortunately, at this point, the wall is looking to be a permanent addition to the ride. Did I mention it was a very stupid and pointless addition to the ride?? P.S., the wall is wooden, not concrete.

To be continued.

I went to the park last night, the 17th, and I finally saw the wall!! I don't know what everyone's problem with it is!

I suppose some of you could get claustrophobic (sorry if I spelled that wrong), or maybe you are mad because you can't see the launch. But I didn't think it was bad at all! The turnstyles weren't right up against the wall, and you weren't touching it or anything, so you weren't really that close to it. I don't see how you could get caustrophobic (sorry if I did it again) with that. I could see what you mean with wanting to see the launch, but I thought it was cool just listening to the VROOM! VROOM! SQUEALLLLLLLL!! and then watching the train shoot up the hill, or trying to see if you were right when it was going to shoot off. But just hearing the sounds got me pumped up and excited for my ride.

I don't know what you guys are complaining about. I think this ride and its theming is excellent, and that the wall isn't so bad. So I'm sorry if I offended anyone or their opinion or anything, but it just didn't seem that bad. I think it's a bigger deal than it really needs to be.

The worst part is how the factoids on the wall read like bad GTTP posts, containing random capitalizations and logic-defying syntax. I saw a group of high school kids looking at one of the factoids for five minutes before they "got" what it was trying to say.

I hate fun. I KILL fun.

The wall was nice on Sunday late afternoon when the wind was blowing off the lake and standing in line for 4 hours you could not feel it. But the wind was noticed when we made it to the platform.

The best thing about Six Flags "Worlds of Adventure" is that Cedar Point is nearby!

I rode the TTD twice on Sunday and here's my observations of the oh-so hated wall after spending about 4 hours getting to know it ;)

It looks like a 7 foot tall tan-colored privacy fence. I thought the black iron fencing alongside the track is really slick looking. It's attractive, let's you see through it and goes well with the 'drag strip' theme. Why they didn't use this by the queues makes no sense to me.

I can see only 2 possible reason for the current state of the fence.

1) CP didn't want people to see the queue from the midway. I think this is pretty silly since the queues for Ratpor and MF look a lot longer. And like someone else mentioned, an informed customer is a happier customer.

2) Fire code. I'm not sure what the fire code is like for queues, but the queue for TTD is long and skinny. And you're blocked in on the other side by the pond. So the wooden wall seems easy to enough to knock over if need be ;) Easier than the black iron fence.

Overall, it didn't bother me too much, but I wasn't in a 4 hour line in 90 degree heat in the middle of July. I just hope they fix the dollar bill accepters on the soda machines in line. :)

Although a good idea, I think #2 gets shot down since there is another two layers of the slick black "Cedar Fair" fencing between the queue and the midway because of the ride's "low zone." The only way out of that queue is back through the entrance or through the station whether the wooden wall is there or not.

I will say that the wall is great when the wind is cold (like it was on Sunday). If the only reason to have the wall is to keep the wind away, then there should also be a significant piece of wall next to Wicked Twister....

Standing in line on Sunday for the "alleged" 4 hours to ride (which turned into about an hour and a half by the time I got into the train :) ), I was struck once more by the sheer stupidity of having the thing there in the first place. As posted earlier, there is no doubt that eventually someone is going to hurt themselves in trying to see over the wall, either by jumping or by falling off a railing. Policing "railing climbers" is going to be about as effective as policing smokers in line.

At the very least, the top 2 ft of the wall should go, if there is a good reason for the rest of it to be there. At least then you'd be able to watch the technicians fixing the ride ;)

For those 16 extreme seconds, it was worth the wait....

I can't see how the wall bothers most of you so much. I went there Friday and the wall didn't bother me one bit. If you need a reason I think it's there because speakers are really loud right there.
