The Stupid Queue Wall

While we're at it, can we assume that nasty wall around and near the hydraulic building is temporary? It looks so Six Flags.

and while we're at it, the queue facts weent even all that interesting. it was mostly stuff that you would know if you looked on ANY Cedar Point website.

I have not been to the park yet, but is the wall a safety barrier for the people in line so they do not get hit with something for the train after it is launched? (loose change, glasses etc.)

The queue wall is so far away from the launch that flying objects from the train aren't really an issue. Flying objects from the queue to the launch...well, If that were the case, I'd expect to see a wall between the midway and launch as well.

I agree with Carsten16 about the wall being there for the pictures. Who wants a bunch of people they dont know standing in line in the background of their picture.A few things lead me to not think this though. Why would they need that long of a wall? Also, I dont have much of any clue about editing pictures but if the wall was there for a background couldn't they just edit the picture and add a neutral color background
Maybe its to stop people in line from heckling maintenance workers to speed it up.

The only thing worse than people who make grammar mistakes are the people who have to point it out every ****ing time.

Geeez. Never has a "wall" been more hated since the one that was installed at SFGAm to keep people going in a complete circle around the park(Its now gone though).

To make matters worse, this year, many foodstands simply don't have the ice water you got for free before, the typical response was: "we only have bottled water." So, either you walk somewhere else across the park, or pay 2:50 for a small bottle of water..

Really? I didn't have any problems anywhere in the park getting the free ice water. My guess is you may have gotten a new employee that didn't know. I had that happen when I got my first cup. The girl kinda looked at me funny when I asked for a cup of ice water. She turned around and another red tag said "just use any of the cups, and it's the tab under the ~" tea, or whatever it comes out of. :)

~no replacement for displacement, except for that big freakin' turbo hanging on the front...

Water is only available at those stands which have running water. There are some...or at least there were some...that don't, that use pre-mix for fountain drinks. Most, if not all, of the permanent stands have water available, but fountain carts and a few drink-only stands are a bit of a crap-shoot.

In the past when I have asked for water at a stand that didn't have it, I was redirected to a different stand that did.

Perhaps the wall is hiding footers for a new 500-foot tall roller coaster ;)

:) Yes, Millennium, perhaps that is what that fence is for. Cedar Point has gotten more and more secretive over the years, haven't they.

That's Ridiculous™

the wall is hiding the next coaster for next year it is a 12,000 foot vekoma kiddie coaster! you will geto ff this ride and say Dragster what!?! ;)

ok for real now. that wall does not go with anything. it needs to go,i hope it is temporary!

Besides the great rides and being the best of everything, the best part about Cedar Point is that it isn't Six Flags! YAY!

I think you guys care too much about a wall. I mean, for real guys... Dragster is still a frickin' sweet ride with or w/o the wall (i can barely believe this is an issue). Honestly, in my mind the wall is JUST A WALL, not some horrific death device designed to kill us all with its breeze-blocking powers. It might be a little toastier on those hot summer days, but what the heck, its not the end of the world. If anything, it makes it that much more refreshing to have your 3 hours worth of sweat bead off your face as you're plastered into the headrest at 120 MPH. Well, i suppose thats my 2 cents... and then some.

adios,

Okay, I think I finally "get it." While in line for TTD ERT on Friday night I looked at the wall for a while and I think I figured out what it is trying to be. Notice how there are alternating sections of it, the forward most protruding sections look like standard walls and these are the ones that have the dragster factoids on them. The sections opposite of these, are slightly inward with a criss-cross wood pattern on them with no signage. I think these are meant to look as if they are garage doors along a wall of garage bays. I think that is the look they were going for. It makes sense to me and keeps with the theme. A neat idea, however nobody could tell what the point was. Either way, I still find them in the way and would rather have the view of the launch area - even if the transfer tracks are right there.

Okay maybe that is it. Just trying to make some rationale for them and it does seem like that could be the idea behind them.

To any Cedar Point higher-ups that I know are reading this eventually-

Remove the wall ASAP. Why? It poses a safety hazard. People cannot see over it, so they stand on the silver queue rails, climb the sunshades, jump up and down, etc to see over it- especially during breakdowns.

Just think of the headlines in the local news papers:

A local teenager fell and broke both arms yesterday while waiting in line for the new Top Thrill Dragster roller coaster at Cedar Point. He stated that he was trying to see over a wall that blocked his view of the ride's operation.

Not only does this wall pose a safety hazard because of the obstructed views it creates, it also adds to a feeling of enclosure in the queue area. Just imagine in the heat of the summer when 2000+ people are in that area already crammed together in the queues. Everyone is hot, sweaty, and irritable already, but now, let's add a wall that makes them all feel even more closed in and pushed together.

That would NOT be my idea of a good time. It's an incident waiting to happen.

Thirdly, it makes it impossible to see the queue from the midway. How am I supposed to be able to look at the queue and determine if I'm going to ride or not? The posted wait time sign at the entrance is not an acceptable solution to this problem. They're only accurate about half the time anyway.

Just my $0.02.

Those are good points and you should probably take a few minutes and write a letter to the park directly and present your argument. I actually took the time to write a letter to Bill Spehn last week about a completely different issue, but something I care alot about. I figure he probably got my letter by now so maybe I'll hear back soon.

Maybe they have a good reason for having the wall there, but I would think someone here would have figured it out if there was one! ;)
