The Mysterious, possible footers

I was at the park on Saturday and from what I could tell, there has not been any change to the fenced off area. I am not sure about over on the island though.

I was there sunday and nope no change anywhere.

Whatever it is they are in no rush to finish it. Vertigo was thrown up in a couple of weeks. This thing looks the way it did on opening day.

...waiting for more parts to arrive? Steel sections maybe?

Well, I'd say the lack of progress could be interpreted differently depending on what theory you believe. If you think it's something to the effect of a slingshot type attraction, then they are simply waiting for parts to arrive, as Zero-G said. But, if you believe that this is something big, well then this just goes with the theory that they're getting an early start on next season's addition, and that they would obviously be installing many more footers in other locations before vertical construction even begins.

It says that it is a thrilling ride for the whole family and we know that CP is going for the family too. It takes 4 supports so maybe we can't see the 4th footer yet? The footers have 12 bolts coming out of them so it might hold some large supports. Read the stuff on the page of that link and then click tech specs and you will see what I am talking about. It might not be that but could be some other kind of large thrill ride. The only thing anyone can do right now is guess so I guess I am just guessing. ;)

IT WAS AN IDEA! Ocean Motion, Troika, and probably a couple other rides there are made by huss... what is wrong with getting another Huss?

In looking at the photos of the site again, I can see how we can speculate that it could be a Delirium. Seems to kind of fit, except for that third footer (or whatever it is), that seems to be out of place. I wonder if that part has the tarp over it because it is the key to figuring out what is being built?

I see that HUSS says that Delirium needs a 102' X 102' ft. area, thats seems to be about the size of 'Area 51'? Doesn't it? Also, remember last year when we were speculating about what was going to happen over on the Oceana Midway, and a couple kept saying HUSS 'Land of Giants', HUSS 'Land of Giants', HUSS 'Land of Giants. I myabe see a little foreshadowing. Also another possibility, while on the topic of flat rides is the HUSS 'Giant Frisbee'. And another thought, wouldn't that be sweet if they put the land of giants entrance thingy where dodgems were, made a bridge over to MF Island, and put the land of giants in!!? now I know that it isn't possible, because of clearence issues with MF, but still that'd be AWSOME!!!

I think this thread just got new life. After looking at the Delirium link, this is the best explanation yet...three giant footers, larger-than normal lot for a flat ride. Hmmmm. But still the question, why now?

I don't recall the last time CP built 2 coasters in 2 years, so I really don't expect another coaster for 2003. But they always add something new each year. Why not a large capacity "family" ride?

But OldCPer, delerium isn't a coaster. I'm thinkin' that CP could have delerium in and operational by, August 1st, if they really tried, but since there isn't even any parts, or steel here yet, I would doubt if we see this new attraction this year.

Before Wicked Twister I don't recall CP ever building an impulse ;) I know I'm being a bit sarcastic, but the point is that historic trends don't always necessarily hold true. The industry changes. I'm not saying there will or will not be a new coaster for 2003, but I don't think it can be ruled out based on past patterns.

1969 & 1970 Cedar Creek Mine Ride and Wildcat. Yes is was a long time ago, but it has happened before. Besides, it's been two years since SFWoA started expanding like mad in the coaster department. This would allow ample time for Cedar Point to boost their development department. I'm not saying it will happen, but it's definitely a plausible possibility.

I hope the giant rides are the right answer. There is a lot of room on the island. I have an old ride catalog from 1976 from Intamin. It has many Huss rides in it. I wonder if Huss rides are still distributed through Intamin....
