The most important question of all this... soda

I would like to see Coke, but Im sure that it will be Pepsi.

Dorney does have a Subway.

In switching brands the park will have to change out all equipment. It's just the way it is. Remember that the wildlife had to switch out all the Pepsi equipment in two months prior to the 2001 season, so i would think it definately feasable to do it again.

As of right now the park has no Pizza Hut. But the other question about the contracts with outsourced stands is quite relevant. Premier set up many of these contracts over time, but do they still hold now?? It seems to me that CF tends to run their food in house, and most amusement park types would much rather run their own stands. Can CF finally expell all the leasees?

As long as they have the free water, I won't have to worry about the pop of choice. I rarely buy pop at CP anyway.

Coke was at Knott's during my July 2001 visit (over three years after FUN had completed its acquisition of them). When I went back in January 2003, Pepsi was there. I'll say Coke will be in GL through the park's contract with them, then it will sadly convert to that line of brands that starts with a "P".

The big minus in the sale of the park is the switch from Coke to Pepsi.

Amen to that brother!

Coke was at KBF as recently as Haunt '02.

WVU is a coca-cola school, and we have a Sbarros Pizzaria in our student union. Sbarro is a Pepsi establishment, but someone at the school got upset that they were serving Pepsi and they swiched even though there was a contract between the main franchize of Sbarro and Pepsi. Not sure of the logistics of the new contracts, but I guess it can be done that a Pizza Hut could switch too.

There was a Subway at GL back in the day when it was GL, FYI. It was like 8 bucks for a sub, but it was there.

I think that those of you expecting something huge and cool will be disappointed. There isn't a single logical reason to pour a footer and enclose it in an ugly wall for six months.

Jeff, in May of 2002, on the then vacant site of Dogems.

Having gone to Knotts this past weekend, I know, for a fact, that they serve Pepsi products.

I think it will be Pepsi, but as far as the question of the changeover it will fall on pepsi's lap - the own all of the vending machines, fountains, racks, lines and coolers for their product and the routeman for cp handles everything except for loading the bottles & syrup. If cf says go i think they will jump at the chance

Yes, I forgot to mention that Knotts had switched over to Pepsi sometime between Haunt '02 and September '03, which was my next visit.

Are you sure?? The equipment's the same. They might have to change out the hoses or flush the systems, but ... I'm pretty sure if you have a fountain you've bought it and therefore can use it as you see fit. Unless they somehow made the fittings different, but that's kind of pointless...

In any case the only thing about having the subway there last year (we were going to get that but then decided Taco Bell was our choice to eat) was that there were those little gnat (sp?) things all around the lettuce and stuff, and that was just gross. Maybe they can do something about that, but I kind of doubt it unless they close the thing off better or something.

Ok, first any good contract for an establishment that does the business that a park does gets all the equipment for free. So definately if the park isn't selling Coke they want their equipment back. Second, i know the fountains are different (even though it seems that the same key works on ALL fountain machines). But anyway, from the BIB to the nozzles they are slightly different, even if they do the same thing. Now i imagine that someone could take the BIB system from one and splice it into the fountain of another, but i also imagine that those machines are patened (but that is purely speculation on my part).

I assure you, that the equipment MUST be changed before Pepsi can come in.

Now i thought i was clear earlier, there is no more Pizza Hut, just like there is no more KFC on site. There are some Subways, Arthurs Treature (sp) and a Taco Bell, also a few other relativly unknown leasees. But back to Franchises and brand concepts. If company A (Franchise) has a deal with company B (Product producer) then the Business owner C has a distinct advantage in sticking with company B (ie much lower pricing). But if franchise owner C is inclined to dump company B and go with their arch nemisis, who we'll call company Pepsi, then they can. Most franchises would much rather allow a varience for a loction like the one in GLP and receive that revenue, than let it go because they have to have Coke or whatnot. If the franchise does enough volume then the company will waive a lot of "rules" that a franchise might have. It's all about the money.

The worst i have heard about was nasty letters from the Franchise. Usually franchises are stripped (from my understanding) if food production rules aren't followed, or secret information is leaked, or if the unit is just a dump.

Sticking with the soda debate has anyone heard for certain if CP will be offering the free refill mugs again this year?

I always thought it was strange that taco bell was(is) owned by pepsi, but they serve coke at the park location.
Eating at TGI Fridays at the Radisson about 2 weeks ago, I ordered a Coke. I was thinking maybe the menu showed the coke logo, as possibly TGIF may possibly have a coke contact, but what I received tasted like a coke and was Coca Cola.It was kind of odd drinking coke and the waitress wearing a CP nametag.

I'm not sure how much meaning that has with the topic at hand, but it is food for thought. There is coke at a CP/Cf establishment in Sandusky.

Does this mean we'll also see the free water come to GL too? I was there last year and it was like $3 for a bottle of water! Made me wish i would have stopped driving about an hour earlier.

you could always ask for water @ SFWoA

Yeah I know you could ask for water anywhere. There were just a few select places that "didn't have water"... aka the Subway stand by ME, other various stands in the 50's area, and some small stands in the park. Even if they didn't have water though, they would direct you to a stand that could. I did however get shut down when I went to the hot dogger and they told me they were out of free water cups and told me they couldn't give me any. I was pretty upset. But back on topic. I would love to see Pepsi in this park. If Coke leaves however, what would sponsor Big Dipper?
Does Big Dipper necessarily need a sponsor?

Last year my plant held its family picnic at SF and since we are long time CP season tickets holders we started to compare prices. (Everyone seems to think CP is out of line with prices.) Surprise, surprise. SF had the same or higher prices for food and drinks. Parking was also the same as CP. CP should immediately allow season passes at GL. The reason is simple, review their income statements and you might notice average admission to CP is roughly $34, with another $34 in purchases per visit. I think GL could use the additional "purchase $$ income" and forgo the admission fee in 2004.
