I'm probably glad I didn't see your original post, right?
Seriously, I hope you know I'm not that stupid. :)

I dont get how people think this is a family ride! Its not nearly as intense as TTD or MF, but really...it looks VERY thrilling. Airtime, 70 mph launch, insanely fast heartline roll. Yea...nothing family about it. and also, at the heartline roll, sexy!!! looks awesome!!
Just because it's thrilling, doesn't mean it's not a family ride. Families like thrills, too.
Likewise, just because it's a family ride, doesn't mean it's not thrilling. Cedar Point likes families, too.
If it's appealing to both groups (families and teens/thrill seekers/fans) then that's all that matters.
Though they'll probably be singing a different tune when they get off the ride.:)

My daughter is four, going on five, and she already wants to ride everything but TTD. So I guess that's one family you could include.

Cedar Point hates families. At least according to PBuzzers. They keep saying CP keeps taking out all the family rides and there's nothing left. LOL!!
My family has been riding MF, TTD, Magnum, Raptor, Mantis, Wicked Twister, Blue Streak, Mean Streak, and the rest for years! This looks like another nice ride for my family.
I think CP is a GREAT place to take a family. Even better now since my dad can get in for less than what I pay to park!
It's odd that CP has 68 rides and I only ride about 25 of them. Seems like CP has way more family rides than "Adult" rides.
I say we cut the whole family issue, there is plenty too do for the litte ones and big ones.

101 on Magnum and counting...
The keyword to describe Maverick would be Thrilling, but also Maverick will make a good family coaster. Maverick isn't that much taller then Iron Dragon, which is what 78 feet tall? Also Corkscrew is like 85 feet tall, and Gemini is like 125 feet tall. Even though Maverick has the launch that goes 70 mph in it, doesn't mean it's not family. Take Flight of Fear at Paramounts Kings Island For example. When that came out families loved it. It launches you from 0-54 mph in 4 seconds. That being said, I don't think kids will be too scared to ride Maverick.

Best post ever!
I love Monkeys! I love Monkeys!
Actually, there aren't as many family rides as you might think -- if we define 'family ride' as rides that parents can ride with all but the youngest of children. According to that definition, I count twenty rides, arguably. That's 18 rides that anyone above 36 inches tall can ride, including rides that require older riders to accompany. Throw in two more that are open to those 39 inches or taller, and that makes twenty.
The rest either have higher minimum height requirements, like most of the coasters and thrill rides, or have maximum height requirements that exclude practically any parent.

I think it will be a very good ride.
Fiyero: I've been thinking...
Elphaba: Yes, I've heard.

IMO the only thing "family" about Maverick is it's low (family friendly) height. I personally think this will be one of the most intense rides in the park, and possibly the world. The second half of the ride should pack on hell of a punch. Can not wait to check it out next year.
