The Best thing about Maverick.

In your own train too. :)

Can my three month old or five year old cousin get on Maverick? Nothing about this ride tame. The only thing that makes more appealing is the fact that it isn't very high (still fast though) and the 48 inch height limit allows kids the age of 8+ on average to go on.

You have to realize that there aren't many parks that have a coaster going over 70mph even. CP just happens to have 4 (soon to be 5).

Most kids are 48 inches by the time they hit 7 or so. My son was 48inches the summer he turned 7, he went on Maggie that year (and gemini, etc). Last year, at age 8, he braved MF and loved it! This year he rode TTD. For the most part, if it is 48 in ride, it is a family ride. Afterall, why in the world do people take infants to an amusement park?

That's why I said on average, but I guess you can start an argument on it anyway. I'm just trying to get over the fact someone calling this a "family coaster". What's Woodstock Express and Mine Ride if Maverick is a family coaster?

Perhaps it should be deemed an "intermediate" coaster... ;)

Kiddie coasters?

Hail to the Victors

My daughter is four, going on five in December, and she's pushing 45 inches in shoes. She's also in the 95th percentile for her age. Next year, Iron Dragon and Disaster Transport, here we come!

I didn't intend to start an argument. Just saying my son's age and when he started riding the big coasters. I guess to us Ohioans and cedar point lovers, Maverick is a family coaster LOL.... for any other park it is a thrill ride. Intermediate I think is a great way to describe it!

I think this coaster will be an "in-between" coaster. Not as powerful as Top Thrill Dragster or Millennium Force, but more intense than Cedar Creek Mine Ride, Corkscrew or the Iron Dragon. This will fit nicely with the likes of Raptor, Mantis and Magnum.

Point well taken.

I love Monkeys! I love Monkeys!

This will be a good ride and a solid addition to the park. I just think (only my opinion) since CP is a thrill park, not theme, why spend a whopping 20 + million for a ride that I see as no real "wow" elements. And, the park's whole hush hush/sensational drama thing for the months leading up to the announcement was, lets just say (again IMO) TNT-ish.

Yes, the 95 degree drop is rather intriguing on its face, but with the lift only being 105' and the 95 degree angle of decent being very short lived, it's really not that spectacular. I do think, however, the rapid twists and turns are the best elements of this ride and will be quite fun experiencing them.

I bet I'll be saying 'Wow' after riding it.

^^There will be plenty of families saying "wow" next year, I'd bet.

I think that all of us will be saying the same thing.

I guess that I'm not trying to put to much thought in to the ride. I dont want to disapoint myself, or hype myself up, making the ride have less meaning when I ride it. If you think about it, i dont think that there are to many rides at Cedar Point that I wouldnt ride over and over again. doesnt mater to me. Magnum is a favorite, and its only 90+ feet higher.

I completely agree now, this picture screams family to me for some reason.

Actually, around this time of year, it's pretty cool out so I'd imagine the steel isn't very hot at all.
