The Best thing about Maverick.

I know that there have been alot of complaints about the ride- be it the height, not breaking any records, restraints, etc. For all those who say that, MF and TTD are still open, go ride them.

With that out of the way, I was showing my mom the Video concept for Maverick, and she was very excited with the features of the ride. She told me" I might not get on MF or TTD, but I'm very excited to ride this. I'm looking forward to going next year.

When I first found out about this ride, I was just like some of you- not upset, but alittle disapointed. But now that I look at the other side of things, Cedar Point was very smart in designing Maverick.

Now I can share my love of rollercoasters with my mom. Which is very cool. and the best part, to me atleast

Likewise, my wife, who will also never touch TTD or MF or even Magnum for that matter, is very excited to run to Maverick on opening day with me.

I think it will be really cool to enjoy an opening day with my wife on a sweet coaster.

I agree Gmoney, my son is now tall enough to ride the "BIG" coasters with dad. He is still not quite tall enough for TTD or MF, but he is really excited to get to ride this one with his dad. Maverick makes for a great coaster for one generation of coaster lovers to breed a new generation.

Just a FYI MF is 48 inches Dragster is 52 so assuming hes 48 he can ride MF.

Thanks David, he is still a little intimidated by MF's height.

I really do like this ride, too. Maverick seems a very solid ride as an enthusiast's view, but also for younger/less daring park guests. One thing that I find wonderful is that I may actually be able to get my older sis, afraid to go on even Sky Ride, as well as my little sister who should be able to grow the extra two inches by next season. Being able to experience something like this with not just my brother will make this a very appealing situation.

Yay Maverick!!

I don't know if anyone's said anything yet, but the POV video that Cedar Point has on their website of Maverick shows the coaster going slower than it originally did. It was interesting to watch.

I for one have not been let down by this ride at any time. I'm very excited to ride this next year.

I would still like a traditional chain lift and do not see the need for LSM/LIM whatever on the lift hill.

I like this ride, I like the idea, and the LSMs go with the times, in a way. It's an Intamin, so they like doing new things, and at least for CP there is no LSM hill. This adds to the experience, as it can make the hill much smoother than a lift hill.

Also, the LSMs speed the train up higher than would be via a chain/cable lift, no? The height is such that it needs to have external aid in order to be able to make the course and to have an acceptable drop speed.

I don't know why some people are complaining about the Height, speed, and the fact that Cedar Point isn't breaking records with Maverick this year. And by the way I'm not referring to anyone on this thread. Maverick is going to be a favorite for years to come. After people ride this coaster for the first time, they won't care how tall or fast Maverick goes because they'll get off of it for the first time and be Stunned. They'll be like "Wow lets do that coaster again".

I was showing my friends the construction of Maverick, and they can't wait to ride it. Maverick to me, is similar to Storm Runner is a way, only it doesn't launch up a hill which will be interesting for Maverick. The best element I think for Maverick will be the horseshoe. I'm anxious about the whole coaster for next year, and look forward to riding it come 2007.

I was FAR from dissapointed when i found out, i actually thought it was going to be kinda lame...but it looks awesome. I showed my mom that video too, and she thought it looks great, even if she did ride everything else at CP. Yea..cant wait to ride it in May!

Yes im interested to see how many will ride maverick that were not ready to ride TTD and the force yet however I am not going to underestimate this coaster doing tight elements with quick speed.

Looking at the dive after the launch and left turn looks pretty crazy already. I also will be comparing this coaster to storm runner after I ride so maverick is realy going to have to be pretty good of a ride to beat storm runners 0-72 in 1.9 secs. and 150 ft airtime tophat and 180 ft drop and inversions. Im hoping maverick delivers a good ride.

The best thing about Maverick will be when the restraints release at the end of the ride and I can get off the ride.

It lacks the WOW power of the past 3 coasters. I was never let down because I already (like many others) knew it was going to be more of a "Family" coaster.

101 on Magnum and counting...

Just because its not massive like TTD or MF, doesnt mean it wont be intense and thrilling.

As long as they don't lose any of the planned theming during construction, it will be an amazing ride.

Let me reiterate that for the good CF folks who like to lurk here: don't drop the theming. ;)

I'm heading to Alton Towers next month and NONE of their coasters are tall or fast when compared to Cedar Point. However, Nemesis is said to be "the world's most intense ride experience." So, a coaster doesn't have to be tall or fast to be good.

Wait a second, Maverick is a "family coaster". What's your definition of a family coaster? Mine doesn't include a 100+ foot drop past 90 degrees, three inversions, and a 70mph launch. I wish I could get some kids on something like that.

Well, maybe the Addams family. Or possibly the Mansons.

OK the whole family can fit on this coaster.
