What thread anywhere stays on topic? People complain about it here like this is the only message board that doesn't stay on topic 100% of the time.

I've been trying to stay out of this but I couldn't really do so forever, its just not humanly possible! :)Lil Leslie, I'm gonna have to agree with you, or at least in a way. Even if they are not hyping this ride, they are teasing us "enthusiasts" (as some of you choose to put it) and thus causing hype of the ride at least in a controlled group.
And I also have a life, I don't quite have a date but I'm going to a dance tonight! :)
Well put.
I'm liking the anticipation of it all. The teasing & lack of information they're giving is pretty cool. I'll definitely get season tickets for the 07 season.

mk522,
Well, the topics get off into garbage when people don't respect other people's opinions or takes things personal & accuses others of ignorance- when they're showing the most ignorance of all.
This topic had changed into Cedar Fair's marketing strategy when it comes to this new ride.

Yep,people blowing a load everytime a piece of dirt moves on the site causes them to wait longer and longer to tell what it is. They admitted this with Dragster, if people weren't so hyper posting evertime something moves on the cam, they might announce things sooner, they love the hype and messing with people.
As far as hype goes, the fact they have starting building this coaster SO early so that everyone who visits this season sees that they are putting up a new coaster is hype enough for me.
It really depends on your definition and/or interpretation of the word hype. One could argue that the postings on OnPoint, the web cam, and the wallpaper constitute hype.

That is true Chad, this forum is all about hype. However, staying to the posted topics makes the curious more...ahhh...interested. I love coasters and enjoy the posts but it does suck to have to read arguments over everyones ideas. Can't we all just get along?
Cedar Point has been feeding us cheap gimmicks, nothing more. A few blogs here and there from T&T, some seemingly meaningless signs, and other teasers featured on the website is only going to get to a very small audience (namely us enthusiasts). I think they are just trying to quell the number of questions they recieve daily regarding this new ride. They are letting those persistently inquistive people know that we are not ready to reveal what this is, but we'll give you some teasers just so you can tell your friends. Like I said though, this is still a small demographic.
Most people will pass the construction and shrug it off. They will not remember it, and a construction site will not be the reason people will come back next year. People are not hyped by a sign that says "Back up bronco." Maybe us enthusiasts are, but most people are not.
The true hype to the ride will begin once the announcement is made, and a giant sign is posted in the park, and the media breaks the story, and the ride gets its own section on cedarpoint.com. Once people know what to look forward to, thats when they get excited.
Dj's rant was amazing, the points he made were my thoughts exactly. Some of you are way too defensive and are taking it the wrong way. Of course, some of you are just too ignorant and refuse to look at the big picture, but suit yourselves.
Hail to the Victors
Blaah blaah blaah who cares, Thome got hurt tonight. I hope the White Sox don't even get the wild card.

RJason,
I went to that game last night. It was a pretty good game...until the White Sox decided to play dirty. We left in the 8th inning.
I can see Comerica Park where I work...and I don't think there's going to be a game today.

Too bad there was a game today, that sucks. (10-0)

From the looks of how banged up that support is, I'm thinking this will be enclosed somehow.
They wouldn't toss those supports around like that and then have to repaint them again later.

Yes they would. It happens all the time. They come back later and touch them up. Take a look at that 4-D coaster in Japan (I never remember its name). You can see on there where all the supports have been touched up after installation.
I had no idea, that's news to me.
I still believe some of this ride will be indoors.

Yeah, the Tigers got beat really horribly. They only lost by 2 last night.
j2k, Looks can be deceiving. Because you don't seem like the kind of guy to be discussing roller coasters. ;-) BTW, which guy are you on that page?

Can the rest of you see yourselves with your arms in the air on this ride already? I can!

Don't get me wrong, I like this too. This and having rode Dragster the first time this year, it all works together to get me liking the Point very very much right now!
Also I see the fence as a trouble spot, they probably coulda landscaped it much better or something, but... And there is no fence at all on the side of the train, riding the train they give you a wonderful view of the construction site. They did not block it off entirely!! They are trying to get people to see what they are doing!!
Okay, so maybe most/all parks don't like announcing rides right away. But even still, the way they are acting about this makes things even more suspcious.
The "Guess What This Is" cam, that's to create hype. They want you to take notice and speculate. Rumors and speculation = PR. As they say, any PR is good PR.
