How is it ANY different that not choosing to ride the attractions in Challenge Park? Is them being in one location, while still being within park boundaries that big a difference than just being IN the park itself? You're not being forced to ride or pay for the upcharge attraction any more than you are being forced to eat the overpriced food. And there's no difference than if you go to the park, then go to Challenge Park to ride whatever.
Kings Island, Dorney Park, Michigans Adventure, Kings Dominion, Knott's, Carowinds, Great America, and I'm pretty sure every Six Flags park has some form of upcharge attraction located in the park itself.....and has had them for a long time. Just because Cedar Point has Challenge Park, doesn't mean they can't do what other parks have done for decades.
I find it hilarious that this is now coming into discussion or is seen as some kind of problem when the vast majority of parks do this already and have had no problem with guests reactions to them. Keep in mind that (To my understanding) these attractions, like slingshots and skycoasters, are still owned or ran by the company that builds them. They're not meant to be high capacity rides and that's one part of why they're an upcharge attraction.

Rollerdog11 is suggesting that this whole thread is a plant by the Cedar Point marketing department - hence "you know who". It wouldn't surprise me at all, as it has all the signs of a brilliant marketing strategy. It certainly is suspicious that RC89 stops by, drops a fact based bomb complete with documentation to a "secret" new ride and then vanishes. This story/thread was used as the basis for multiple news stories.
Who is this guy who is randomly searching FAA filings, finds the info, finds PointBuzz, creates a new account, posts a major scoop and then disappears - never to be heard from again?
How did the Sandusky Register get the same FAA story and not credit this website? Did RC89 just randomly call them in addition to posting here?
If it wasn't Tony, it was someone gunning for his job. I would guess we will find out more on Saturday.
Why would CP start a "plant" if they already announced the 2014 attractions? I know KI did "the Bat" promotion to try to throw people off of the "Banshee" idea, but that was BEFORE Banshee was announced. What/how would CP benefit/win from this?
As far as RC89 "stopping by", he wasn't the first to do this kind of thing. What about the "leaked gateKeeper memo" or the "Windseeker/Mondial" dispute? What about those people who look at Cedar Fair's trademarks on a somewhat-regular basis (just to see if any new names/logos pop up)? The whole reason I made MY account back in 2010 was to post pictures of wooden markers used just before Windseeker was built.
Lastly, Pointbuzz's RC89 was not the first to notice the FAA filing. Why would the Sandusky Register need to "give credit" to Pointbuzz?
Do I think CP is behind this? Not really, but it's likely that I'm wrong.
Do I think this ride will be built for 2014? I don't know
Do I think RC89 is a secret CP employee with inside knowledge? No
I didn't come here to argue. You asked a question and I attempted to answer it for you.
I made a few observations. You don't have to agree with them.
To my knowledge RC89 was the first to point it out. Please provide a link to where it was discussed before this thread was started. (Feb 3rd, 2014 at 4:46)
Cedar Point has already publicly announced that there were more new things coming than had been announced previously. If you don't understand why they _might_ do something like this, you need to take a marketing class or two.
Cedar Point guest since 1974
To add to that, there have been 2 new trademarks filed (see here) but I don't know if they have been placed to a ride within the company yet
Centurion will likely be used to Carowinds' new coaster and I think Fury is rumored to have to do with Haunt.
This is definitely legit. I highly doubt Cedar Point can fake an FAA filing and Tony kinda hinted about this ride on twitter.
Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!
The FAA Filing has been updated/approved:

And to clear a few things up:
No, I don't work for Cedar Point. (I don't even live anywhere near Ohio).
Yes, this was the first site this story was posted on. (Sad that few other sites gave proper credit).
I prefer Dole Whips.

I didn't either. I didn't mean to make it seem like an argument, and I'm really sorry if I did. Looking at my post, I guess it does look like I'm "attacking" your post a bit but I definitely wasn't looking to start anything, and I apologize if it seems like I was.
It just doesn't make any sense to me why CP would secretly make a Pointbuzz account. In case you were wondering, I think I've seen at least one other discussion forum (website) and this article was posted the same day: http://cpfansite.com/2014/02/sling-shot-to-the-point/. In terms of marketing, I still don't see how CP/CF would make any extra profit form doing this--and I have actually taken a marketing class and 2 finance/econ classes. I guess rather than making more money, they could be trying to mislead people into thinking something else other than what's really happening. Sorry, again if I made it seem like an argument, and thanks for answering my question.
1. Might not work for CP, but maybe CF, there are other offices
2. How can we trust your word, it's only your second post and more info :P
3. Just playing devil's advocate, I mean you can understand why it's suspicious.
4. ATTN is Scott Graybill, Project Designer/Architectural Services @ CP
5. Lists CP as representative of construction permit & reitterates structure as 2014 Sling Shot Ride, no other specific details other than proposal for 236 foot tall ride towers which they want to know if they need strobes on them. Also lists as within boundary of the park
