I came across an interesting FAA filing today, seeking approval for the addition of a 236ft. "Sling Shot Ride". The coordinates listed in the filing put it near the Gemini station.
Here's a link to the FAA filing:

And a map with the coordinates marked:

Any ideas on what this could be?
Don't know how accurate that map is, but on the chance that it may be slightly off, I'm thinking it could a new Challenge Park attraction. IIRC, Tony said they weren't done with announcements yet. And a challenge park attraction isn't something they need to hype up and can announce it at the last minute. And a ride like that sounds more like a Challenge Park type of ride. Also, with Camper Village close to that point, this attraction could have something to do with the closure of the circle.

Unless they think they can make more money with a Slingshot in the park, which seems likely. It works at Kings Island, and takes up very little space.
Even the map linked in the filing shows it in the park, not outside. I seriously doubt that the coordinates are even "slightly off".
The closure of the circle is for cabins. Once again, a bigger money maker with a more comfortable, longer season.

My thoughts exactly challenge park does little to draw from guests just going to CP for the day it draws most of its business from on point resort guests and guests that use both CP and soak city on the same day.
Even tried Bing and a few other quick map applications, all of them point to the same location. Either this is a hush hush for CP currently or maybe the start of project 2015, I doubt but ya never know.
Very interesting find, how did you come across it?

Oops, I didn't look at the map in the filing. I just thought a slingshot ride was something that would go in Challenge Park.

If this is a Funtime Slingshot this would be one of the tallest ones at 72 meters. Funtime makes 4 tower park model Slingshots also that have a capacity of about 250 riders per hour. Perhaps CP is getting one of those, that is why it will go in the park rather than Challenge Park?
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I think a four tower model would be outstanding, love the high capacity and it adds a cool look to the skyline. I think for a model that large they would have to relocate the restrooms between Gemini and the train tracks. But would be a nice addition and a quick build.
Speaking of Funtime Slingshot...Anyone here, such as Dave, able to give a detailed analysis on how it works. I see the cables go from the top of the spring propulsion deal, up the tower, and down to the ball. Alright, but what about the ton of cables below the springs you see as the springs are stretched by the hydraulic ram..Still somewhat confused as to how it all works

I don't think this would be a hush hush 2015 deal, because the filing says construction from 3/7/2014 through 6/7/2014

I would think they would at least try to aim for opening day on May 10th. But maybe in filings, they can only do it in 3 month increments seeing as that is exactly 90 days.

According to the Funtime website it only takes "weeks" for installation. I think it will be ready by media day, but I agree the exact 90 days is a bit odd.
They probably need to account for possible construction delays, so 6/7/14 could be the worst case scenario.
Regardless, if Pete's correct about the high-capacity model (which seems reasonable), that's a pretty sizable structure for that area. Though with some creative orientation, it could fit nicely.
It's funny, ever since the midway refresh was announced, I was wondering what, if anything, they were going to do with that area in front of Gemini. Always seemed like a poor use of real estate.
Also, perhaps the most interesting thing about this rumored project is the manufacturer...

Funtime says weeks. But, that's probably after the site has been prepared.

Based off of Funtime's website the only model that is built up to 72m is the two tower set up, while the others are up to 66m.. Not saying they can't ask to alter the bigger models (19.6ft difference). Just a thought..
I agree this would be a great addition to Cedar Points sky line. Although it probably would not be a featured ride I think it is a good addition for people who really like a thrill. If they add this for this season I am for sure going to ride it.
The one at KI always has a large crowd watching the launches. I'm sure this ride will do the same. I don't remember what the price per ride was at KI, but it might also have the video package you can buy.
Oh and I believe DjDaemon was referring to this...
