"Can you believe that's the same ocean we saw when we were in Tampa last winter?" -Woman I overheard talking to her kids on the CP beach.

I think some people need a geography lesson. They should go into the lake and taste the water. The water not being salty should tell them it's not an ocean.

Nope! People who think Lake Erie is an ocean don't know that an ocean is salt water and lakes are fresh water.
The government requires schools to teach so much "crap" nowadays they don't spend much time on geography. In most schools, after art, music and PE, geography is the next one to go. Many high schools don't even off geography today. But I agree they need a geography lesson.

Wrong. There are salty lakes in the world. Ever hear of the Great Salt Lake? A lake is not defined by fresh water.

Plus, I dont think tasting the water from Lake Erie to make sure it's fresh water is ever a good idea. :)

Most lakes are fresh water. I agree there are a some salt water lakes in this world. Maybe I should have said the Great Lakes are fresh water lakes.
If they thought Lake Erie was an ocean, how were they able to read the map to get to Cedar Point?

GPS makes people dumb.
I can't believe nobody has pointed out that what that family saw in Tampa also technically wasn't an ocean.

Ralph, it's Tampa Bay but that is part of the Ocean, just like Sandusky Bay is part of Lake Erie.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
I think the question would be is the Gulf of Mexico a separate water body from the Atlantic Ocean, or is it just a subset of the Atlantic?
Goodbye MrScott

The Gulf of Mexico is a part of the Atlantic Ocean. It is actually connected to this ocean through the Florida Straits, which is located between the United States and Cuba.
It is considered a sea by many though, which would make it an ocean basin that is a subset of the Atlantic.

That news story even linked to this exact thread and quoted some posts.

One of my friends works there and posted that..

Since Cedar Point has absolutely no intention of announcing the obvious, I'm up for more geography discussion.

"Dave Lipnicky, a coaster enthusiast with the organization American Coaster Enthusiasts, said this was a well-kept secret for Cedar Point, as there were no rumors circulating among coaster enthusiasts."
Sounds like Dave needs to add PointBuzz to his daily reading list. :)
RC 89. Roller Coaster 1989. Magnum. And whats neat Magnum? Gemini and Challenge Park. Could be an employee or even you know who. Coincidence, I THINK NOT!!!
Leave the hypercoaster alone
Rollerdog11 is suggesting that this whole thread is a plant by the Cedar Point marketing department - hence "you know who". It wouldn't surprise me at all, as it has all the signs of a brilliant marketing strategy.
It certainly is suspicious that RC89 stops by, drops a fact based bomb complete with documentation to a "secret" new ride and then vanishes. This story/thread was used as the basis for multiple news stories.
Who is this guy who is randomly searching FAA filings, finds the info, finds PointBuzz, creates a new account, posts a major scoop and then disappears - never to be heard from again?
How did the Sandusky Register get the same FAA story and not credit this website? Did RC89 just randomly call them in addition to posting here?
If it wasn't Tony, it was someone gunning for his job. I would guess we will find out more on Saturday.
