Steel Vengeance's three amigos

I realize CP prefers to invest in its rides rather than their theming, which is one reason why so many record breaking coasters have sprung up there over the years, but introducing the three characters for SteVen seems like a promising step towards greater theming in the future. At this point it's perhaps not too much to ask for these three characters to appear as meet & greets in Frontiertown, with each one acting out their persona (fast draw, wild & crazy etc...) for guests! :-D Digger's actor would need to be an amputee, but there are many amputee actors who'd love a gatling gun arm...

Do Charlie Brown characters appear as meet & greets in Cedar Fair parks?

If we build it, they will come.

I couldn't tell if your last question was rhetorical, but yes. Charlie Brown and the other Peanuts' characters perform frequent meet and greets around Cedar Fair parks (at least the four that i have been to).

Tall and fast not so much upside down...

Legit question; I haven't visited a CF park yet.

It's important to remember that once upon a time, even Disney's now household name characters were new to the public, and considered a risk. If CF can create their own iconic characters and stories to accompany them, it opens lucrative possibilities and helps CF forge a "lore" of its own, like Disney now enjoys. The ultimate goal would be to create a "destination" for foreign tourists like Disney parks (which admittedly aren't seasonal like CP).

Maverick can be introduced as a character in future too perhaps.

Pardon my ignorance if this has been addressed, but what ever came from that ostrich wanted poster with the 87 cent reward?

The emu that escaped the petting zoo, you mean? That's all that was.

Here's some food for thought-

I went to CP with my very good female friend a couple of weeks ago. She's very interested in Steel Vengeance and especially after seeing it in person, is looking forward to some rides next season.
So while we were back there looking around, she studied the posters for info about the characters. She was really glad to see that there is a female outlaw- that was until she got to their list of "crimes". At the top of Chess Watkins' list is "non-compliance". Non-compliance! Hoo boy, was my friend ever mad. She thought, (and rightly so,) that it was totally sexist, what with the two fellas getting real crimes like forgery and theft, and all they could come up with for this woman outlaw was non-compliance?
Seriously, she was so hopping mad she talked about going to the office and telling Cedar Point off about it.
I tried to smooth it over by offering a sheepish, perhaps historical explanation about "how things were back then, and after all... not that it makes it right, but..." and she gave me the cold stare followed by the slow blink. I dropped it right away. She was fuming.

My friend is especially tuned in to things like that, and frankly, I didn't notice it until she pointed it out. But I believe she's right. What would be CP's reason for toning down Chess to a mere "troublemaker"?

Had a good laugh for a minute, then I realized you were being serious. Jesus Christ.

The most dangerous enemy is the one you don't know you have.

Well... Sara was serious, so....

Corporations have huge Compliance departments these days. Non-Compliance sounds like a white-collar crime which means she got away with major bucks and is rich. She is smart and powerful and didn't have to resort to thuggery like these other looser grunts.

Think she will buy that spin?

No offense, but Sara sounds like the type of person who would scream at me because I looked at her the wrong way. It's insane what some people can find to get pissed off about. I guarantee if they had her committing a "real crime" Sara would get upset about women being depicted doing violent crimes. Just enjoy the damn park.

Was she the same lady who got pissed off and made Disney change their Pirates ride?

You know, Al Capone was arrested on what boils down to "non-compliance" - IE, tax evasion. The most notorious gangster ever - now just a troublemaker. Non-compliance is incredibly broad.

Yes, brutally awful takes can indeed be interesting at times. It's always good to be reminded to go to places with people who can enjoy life without seeking out tiny things to be offended by. Point taken, thanks for the reminder.

I'm not sure what any of that means, but what I do know is that's she's entitled to her opinion. Since I know her and you don't, let me assure you that any difference the two of you might ever have would not be resolved by or even include screaming. And that if Chess was depicted as a "real" law breaker, totally equal to her male counterparts (instead of just a gal who didn't know her place), that she'd be just fine with that and would, accordingly, have zero reason to take offense. Equality was her point, entirely.

I also know that we together had a great day enjoying all that CP has to offer, so it was far from a deal breaker. In other words, as enthused as she was about Steel Vengeance, she simply had difficulty with how they presented the three outlaws. And for what it's worth, I see it as a valid point. You can discount her opinion if you need to, but I won't.

Why do so many people get butthurt these days over absolutely nothing of substance? Jeez, now we even have to have absolutely identical badness in made up outlaws?

Let's see, Chess is probably the weakest of the three and most likely gets the least amount of loot. But, she is pretty and her many assets along those lines definitely make up for her lower capability. Politically incorrect enough?

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Maybe Chess is the most badass of the group but "noncompliance" was all the lousy, incompetent (and therefore certainly male) Frontiertown DA could get an indictment for. Maybe it's not that Chess is the weak outlaw because she's female, maybe she's the most cunning and has Digger & Blackjack think they are running the show when in fact they are set up to be the patsies and take the fall.

Everyone can find something to be offended by in anything. Not everything is meant as an offensive FU.

ROUNDABOUND.

^^
Yeah, that's cute.
But think about this. Why isn't Chess the ringleader and the most badass of them all? I'm guessing it never crossed their minds. She's just a girl, and the only service here to women everywhere is that she was included in the first place and that should be enough, right? They probably thought they were being extra correct by doing so.

In my usual dramatizing fashion, I played up the butthurt aspect of our conversation. Seriously, she let it go. I've thought about it since, though, and took the opportunity with this particular thread to bring it up.
But my friend makes a good and valid point. If these villainous characters are to be glamorized in this way, little girls and young women, once again, as usual, might only see any accomplishment as downplayed to a backseat kind of role while the fellas get the good stuff.

And to be perfectly honest, I didn't expect I would step into this sausage fest and garner any kind of support. So let's continue to just be butthurt over traffic, drones, lockers, downtime, stacking, men's rooms, Chik-fil-A, and rude enthusiasts. You know, the stuff of real substance.

Well, when I was growing up, if you made it to the backseat, you did get the good stuff! 😀👍

Because getting butthurt over a fake story made up about a roller coaster, a story that we'll likely see disappear in a year, is real substance. Okay. The world continues to amaze me.

Am I the only person who didn't realize these characters were criminals? I was more interested in the teasing descriptions, of which Chess sounds exactly like someone I know.
