So get this:
Nearly a minute shorter even with a longer track length. This will be one intense ride.
Also, I think the "Steel" part of the ride was done deliberately. They didn't want another Mantis-Rougarou phenomenon, where a significant number of people just thought they repainted and renamed the ride. Adding "steel" to the name makes it plain as day that this is not a wooden roller coaster anymore.
The name is mediocre at best but then pretty much every ride at Cedar Point has a stupid name. I'll probably call it Hairtime.
Seemed like they were building up some Frontier Town lore with the outlaws and everything then when they went to reveal it that all seemingly went out the window. What the heck was the deal with the outlaws? A coherent story they expand on with each new ride might actually be cool to see but this was kind of just babbling nonsense.
Here's what really matters, though. The ride looks utterly fantastic. Who really cares about the other stuff if the ride is amazing?
I'm excited about everything! They're taking one of the worst rides in the park and are turning it into an airtime-filled hyper coaster. And the name, while generic-sounding, will grow on me: It doesn't sound as silly to me as Magnum XL 200 or Millennium Force did when they were announced, and I can't imagine either of them being called anything different now.

2001: Gemini ATL
I am a little surprised and disappointed that there was not a press kit available. Usually we get a few Hi res photos, a layout, detailed photo of the train and the seats. Just two videos and a logo.
Only 24 passengers per train is pretty disappointing. Definitely need to use early entry as often as possible for this ride.
Based on the name alone this ride is going to suck. Only 24 riders per train so it's going to be a capacity nightmare. Also in the fleeting view of the restraints this ride is going to be painful, especially on the second half where it is going to be choppy.
I encourage all of you to boycott this ride to send Cedar Point a message! Boycott and keep the queue empty!
(Then I can ride over and over and let you know how bad it is!)

Really didn't think they would have gone with that name. Before the announcement, you google it and the metal band from Muskegon and a Marvel comic shows up. It could be worse. Ride looks great. 24 passengers, yikes.. 2018 will be long lines few rides, if you put Steel Vengeance in the mix. Maybe Cedar Shores will be the destination next year.

We've got some ride renderings here:
https://pointbuzz.com/content/steel-vengeance-2018-cedar-point
I'm pretty sure the POV shows the line queue as it exists today. I think someone mentioned it in the sneak peek thread, but this POV was careful to not reveal anything else going on.
At about 1:31 you can see the queue rail is almost the same height as the track in the lower left corner.
At 1:41 you can see on the right how close the track is to the ground while also seeing the pavement for the existing entry on the left.
And oh yeah, 10 seconds to get from point a to point b.... can't wait to ride this

So get this:
- Mean Streak was 5,427 feet long. It lasted 3 minutes and 13 seconds.
- Steel Vengeance will be 5,740 feet long. It will last 2 minutes and 30 seconds.

Valid point about track length and times. Glad to see the wasted potential energy gone as per MS's tall brake run is gonzo.
As it turns out I lost a few bets today:
-2018 (which I have long since adopted but was adamant against last year).
-greater track length
-better name (alright the horse is dead)
205' though! 90°?! Air time air time air time! Nasty menuevers! Sick trains! Great looks! One thing remains; this will be E!P!I!C
... and I originally thought the same about the "steel" thing -solidifying this is NOT Mean Streak.. but then there's Twisted Timbers, which negates such a theory.
SV will grow on me, and after viewing the definition, the name seems even more fitting.
ˈvenjəns/
noun
punishment inflicted or retribution exacted for an injury or wrong. (I.e Mean Streak)
For those wondering about the "RailBlazer" trademark, CGA has just confirmed it to be the name of their new RMC Raptor coaster.
I really like how they are using the classic CP logo with it.
Enjoying the Ohio park on the shores of beautiful Lake Erie since the mid-1970s!
Interesting tid bit I noticed that probably holds no weight:
In Planet Coaster's video on their Facebook page you can see a flat ride next to Steel Vengeance.
The ride would pretty much be sitting on Perimeter Rd and the official renderings include no such, so as I said it's probably not a teaser or hinting at anything to come.
Nearly all roller coaster names can be slapped onto anything. Being mad about that is not smart. Rougarou, Raptor, Mantis, Valravn, Maverick, Corkscrew, Iron Dragon, and Wicked Twister could all swap logos and names and it wouldn't be weird at all. If you truly just don't like the name that much then fine, whatever, but if your reasoning is that it's "generic" then explain to me how is this even close to as bad as Six Flags using the same three comic characters for 15 coasters.
The most dangerous enemy is the one you don't know you have.

Awesome ride and I like the name. I was thinking that calling it steel would be confusing because while we understand it is steel, calling a coaster like Gemini wood is a common mistake. But Jeff makes a good point that that name serves the purpose of educating and differentiating this ride from the old Mean Streak.
I am glad Cedar Point finally went after the airtime record. If you are going to have a record that is the one to have. I also think Twisted Timbers at Kings Dominion looks great too. It is interesting that that name refers to wood and this one to steel.
I've got to agree there, TTD6262.
Ya know what I'm disappointed with? That there are actually people expressing disappointment over anything at all to do with this awesome new ride, and I don't care if it's the name or the lack of swag. I think there are some who don't know how good we've got it here.
I'm already feeling bad for the closing ride ops for SV, the line at closing is going to be crazy long... that's going to be some late nights for that crew.
