600 miles up??? I think thats farther up than the atmosphere goes. ;)
I meant feet....Going to change that right now :)
I like Disaster Transport, if for no other reason than that it's a fairly unique ride. That said, it could definitely use improvement. I went to the park in 1992, and I remember how the theming used to be for that ride. You can't tell me that it would cost very much to bring it back up to where it was.
Once that's done, they need to about double the length. Not even joking. I don't think it would be all that hard. My biggest problem with DT is how ridiculously short it is. Instead of having a thread running about modifying Raptor, how about DT? Increase the length, restore the theming, and that would eliminate 90% of the complaints about the ride.

Well the thing is, Cedar Point doesn't have to cater to ONLY the timid riders.
Yes and they don't have to cater to ONLY the brave riders.
Do you see my point?
Could a DT reworking be in the works for 2007? JUST KIDDING!
I think that's the only rumor that has not surfaced yet!

If youre not looking for a major thrill there is a place called Disney World you might want to check out.
3 Rollbacks- 2 back to back front row -dead serious- IT WAS THE SH*T!!!!!
I used to love DT when it had the air conditioning. I still like it though, and look forward to taking my nephew on it for the first time this year.

CX and braden, Cedar Point is for ALL riders. While braden is riding Disaster Transport, and CX is riding TTD...and I am riding the MF...We are all having fun and enjoying ourselves. I think that is what is truly the Cedar Point Experience. Whether we go for the Rides, Shows, Food, or even the Landscaping, Cedar Point is A great place to have fun and relax!
Cedar Point 4-ever
BK, and for most people a weekend trip to CP is much for financially feasible that a weekend trip to DisneyWorld. Why can't CP build rides throughout the spectrum and keep rides like DT around?

I'd love to see DT gone, they could alot of things with area.
I'll ride it again in May and if I like it this time, I might change my mind.
But even if they plan on taking it out, it wont be for another 3-4 years, atleast.

Jugga, I want DT gone because it makes that part of the park look ugly. Just like I would like to see that giant screen removed as well. I thought DT was ok but really put in something better looking.
Although I think it looks better in a box then it did when it was out in the open. IMO

101 on Magnum and counting...
Honestly, what view is it really blocking? It's looking out into Lake Erie, there's really not much to see.

Well, I don't see how demolishing some rides that the park spent millions, nay, billions of dollars on would be economicly feasable.
Your idea is the most cockamany bunch of malarky I've ever heard. Get your head out of the sand.
It's sort of like a senior citizen saying: "Let's get rid of everything except the scenery so we can relax."
Having worked on DT last summer, I have a very high respect for the ride. Sure it's not the biggest and fastest, or even the best, but it's a great family ride, and seeing little kids faces after getting off their first "big ride" makes your heart glow! I say, redo the theming if you can, but keep the ride for what it is... FUN!

Is there some kind of new math you are using to arrive at the "billions" estimation?
And while I doubt he's serious about them tearing down TTD and MF he was using it as an example. He doesn't ride those so they have no value so therefore they should be torn down. Its the same twisted logic that people use to say DT should be torn down.

I think Disaster Transport, similar to Mean Streak, are often not given a chance. For what Disaster Transport is (Bobsled), I think it's a good ride.

Dt is a fun ride, but sorry to say it doesn't even compaire to MF or TTD.
I don't think TTD or MF are going anywhere.

I would venture to say that the current use of DT's indoor area as a warehouse for HalloWeekends stuff is what's keeping it where it is more than the ride inside. With that said, in the long run, I don't see it being there 10-15 from now.
Wouldn't that area look so much more amazing if they happened to build a mid-sized woodie over there on the beach? I still wonder if they would ever entertain the idea of rebuilding the CP Cyclone there.

Rebuilding the Cyclone would be great. But I agree that the building being used for a warehouse right now is one of the reasons its still there. They keep a lot of crap in there. Cedar Point is a big packrat. If they removed the building though, but kept the coaster, I don’t see why a nice sized woodie couldn’t be built around Avalanche Run? There is plenty of room there with the beach, employee parking lot, and the land around cash control and the merchandise warehouse.
