Standing up for Disaster Transport.

I have been disappointed by some of the posts that I have read here calling for the end of Disaster Transport. I am wondering why all of you hate it so much? I personaly think its a great ride! IMO they could tear down Top Thrill Dragster and Millennium. The Park does not need the biggest and fastest ride! You seem to be neglecting those of us who don't want to ride them! Remember that Cedar Point is a family Park! So stop Picking on Disaster Transport!

Congrats, you're the only one.
NEXT!!

I wouldn't call DT a great ride, but it is a fun ride. I still enjoy riding it when I'm there. And for more than just the A/C.

I also enjoy riding it, though it was definitely better when it was first converted. It gets a lot of hate because most people here are enthusiasts, and most are height and speed junkies - neither of which DT can brag about. And Kinzel's comment only seems to have made the hate proliferate.

Hey, look! I'm a rapper! ;)

Bug butt.

oooooooohhhhh.... that's not going to go over well witht he Dragster and Millennium Fans.

But DT is a good ride, but it's seriously outdated IMO

Its less outdated than CCMR. CCMR has the one size fits everyone on the train restraints (not to mention there is no leg room) so, alas, my riding days on CCMR are over. DT I can still ride, in any seat, with no problem.

That's because you are old.

Braden, I am not one that "hates" Disaster Transport, but to tear down the two newest rides...and plus the rides that have earned honors at Amusement Today is NOT going to happen. While there are some that don't ride the big rides, I find that there are several alternatives that you can ride. I was a little disappointed when they took down WWL. It is called progress. You can't expect the park and all the rides to stay there forever.

I like DT personally, I would rather it was a little longer, because after waiting in line for an hour it just feels too short. And of course I think the theming could have been done better, and I understand that it used to be better, but overall its a nice little coaster.
I would like it to stick around for awhile.
Just my .02

I'd almost prefer them to take down most of the building, retrofit it with the new track (the kind that is sort of see-thru) and rename it (again). That building blocks an otherwise nice view.

Its nice to see Im not the only one who likes DT. I love Dragster and Millennium also, but I like DT and I cant explain why. I usually ride it 6-12 times a day in early may. I will never get tired of it and would be sad to see it go.

If you call this thread a violation of rule #3, you are sadly mistaken. This is not a flame.

I don't have it in me to come up with one right now, either. (something must be wrong with me today...)

Though it could be better, I like DT and totally agree that speed and height isn't for everyone and thats why cp has rides like DT. Obviously, as many always say, the A/C in the summer is nice, but its also a nice change of pace between all the record breaking coasters as well.

Besides, if they tore it down, what would happen to one of my favorite Halloweekend attractions???

It could become Avalanche Run again!

Brandon

I would love for CP to call me up and invite me to come out to the park and redo ALL of the old old old old old theming in Disaster Transport... if that ride was updated with new technology and made to really "WOW" riders... i think that it could be absolutley worth standing in line for.

They should turn 2 or 3 of the trains backwards and send you through the ride backwards. But only have a few trains backwards so that the ride (in theory) would be different depending on which train you got into. <---- Not sure of the safety issues that could come of this though.

Tim

Thats the problem. AR was made for thrills, then DT for themeing. The outcome is a lack of both thrill and themeing.

I think that a lot more stuff could be done with the space that DT takes up... But on the other hand, it add something to CP's collection. It is the only ark that I can say that has a rollercoaster for any one, no matter how timid the rider is. IT's a great place to if you want to start "riding" and there is no repeats as far as coaster technology goes, everything is different.

Tim

Thank you to some of you for standing up with me on this....to be honest I am what 420TTD said...A "Timid" rider. I really like Disaster Transport! Its a great ride! I just keep thinking that I am one of a small group that happens to like it. If some of you had your way I am sure you would tear down Jr. Gemini and Woodstock Express. You would get rid of Camp Snoopy and Kiddie Kingdom, Just so you could have the next big roller coaster that goes 600 feet up and has a speed of 200 mph. *** Edited 4/4/2006 6:31:03 PM UTC by braden***
