I'm not saying the general public won't see similarities. I'm saying 99.9% won't give it anything but a passing thought. Enthusiasts are the only ones who nitpick.

The argument about choosing between similar rides can go both ways, though. While one may go on MF before Magnum because MF is bigger, alternatively, I will go on "Maggie" before MF simply because the line IS too long on MF. In fact, being the impatient "cityslicker" that I am, I will always opt for a ride with a line that isn't so long and I would imagine others dothe same. I will have fun on any ride I choose to go on. Maybe it won't be my favorite, but it will still be fun...AND....I don't waste the limited time I have to spend there standing in line.
And what I'm saying is that you'll find very few people who will notice that and choose to stay home because of it.
A new attraction isn't going to necessarily solve attendance problems. There are other issues at hand.
MaXair was advertised as the "Greatest Spin Cycle on the Planet", they emphasized spinning while becoming weightless at the top.
The Screaming Swing will probably emphasize the launch and extreme swinging action.
Two different ride experiences, even though they may look similar on the surface.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Would you like some cheese with that whine? Seriously, I don't get how this is a bad thing.
Some people need to just be happy with what they've got. Personally, I think I'd rather ride this screaming swing which will have minimal waits (i'm guessing) than wait in line for Dragster which may or may not break down.
