Son Of Beast to be removed.

In case no one has heard the news, Son of Beast will be removed later this summer. I know this is a Cedar Point only forum, but I figured with Kings Island being Cedar Point's neighbor that this would be appropriate. I'm excited about this for Kings Island! Now they can move on! :)

Not being at Cedar Point, this would be better for CoasterBuzz. And what do you know, there's already a topic there too.

Good riddance. Can Mean Streak be next?

That takes up an awful large piece of land...I wonder whether another big coaster will be built in its place or if a new midway and section of the park will be added.

Don't worry, your not the only one that likes Mean Streak. But the number of people that do is very few. I really hope that they don't get rid of Mean Streak. It's not THAT bad, like everyone says. But I suppose that it could be a little smoother:-)

I'm always up for some night time re-rides, in the front seat of course.

If it ever is removed, I hope they would replace it with another woodie. It just wouldn't look right with a steel coaster standing where MS always set such an awesome backdrop for frontier town!

With Son Of Beast being removed, I wonder what is coming to Kings Island in 2013/2014 to replace it. Could there be a B&M Giga coaster coming to Kings Island following the path of the 3 B&M Hyper coasters? Time will tell.

Those that like Mean Streak haven't been on good wooden roller coasters.

This is not a surprise at all

Aside from being wood coasters, Mean Streak and Son of Beast are nothing alike.

I've been on some good wooden coasters and still like MS, but I must admit, it's probably a little sentimental because of memories with my father.

First time I went on MS with my father he said he won't ride it again. lol. And he's only 45 and I'm 17. I can't say I'm the biggest fan, I never got to ride it pre-trim brakes. The only thing I would miss is the daunting look of all that wood. And that could be emulated with another Woodie.

Don't take that post the wrong way either, I'm not being mean to you or anything. I'm glad at least somebody has good memories of that ride.

I like Mean Streak too. I wish people would stop complaining about Mean Streak. It's so fun.

Just to let you know I've ridden the Voyage and the other woodies at Holiday World and I still like Mean Streak.

But compared to El Toro, Mean Streak is a big pile of crap.

^That's like saying compared to Maverick, Corkscrew is a big pile of crap! they were build at different times, when MS was built it was a great ride for its time, and still it a fun ride. Just like Corkscrew.

What is so fun about Mean Streak? A lot of people say it's one of their favorites and that they love it but I never hear why. I can explain why I love riding Voyage, El Toro and Jack Rabbit (my top 3 fav) but what is to love about Mean Streak other than the fact that it is another roller coaster at Cedar Point?

Ive had a few good rides on MS on certain trains and certain seats. I like hills and drops on my woodies even small ones so I think it a decent coaster. Does it rank with Voyage, Prowler, Ghostider, Thunderhead...no. I still thinks its better than a lot of the racers out there and beast that are just so much more rough than mean streak ever was. Id say overall its in the middle of my pack for woodies.
