Softball league

Hey, anybody ever thought about organizing an employee softball league for during the season? Obviously the games would all have to be played at night after park close but I would have thought there would be enough people who would wanna play. Dunno if this has ever been tried before and just isn't done anymore or what, anybody heard of anything like this before?

I think a softball league would be a great way to unwind, HOWEVER, you guys have to realize that park is owned by the city of sandusky and so is that gravel lot that everyone parks in. Getting permission from cp would be useless, you'd have to talk to the parks and rec department with the City of Sandusky.

Ill play.

entering4year you always talk about the rules, thats no fun. Live alittle

Sounds like a great time. I'm in for sure.

I think the only thing you would need from the parks and rec department in Sandusky is teh schedule of when they have the field reserved. If it's a public park people can use the Diamonds when they want. There aren't any signs that I'm aware of that says for City League use only... Just my .02

I think that's a great idea, you could definetly count me in if something like that could get started...that's one of the things I love about the housing, there is a softball feild right there...even though you don't get too much time to actually spend at the feild ;) But softball has always been my life, so an employee league would totally rock...

Well it seems like we'd definately have the people for it, now all we gotta do is figure out how to work it. Anybody gets any bright ideas stick 'em on here or email me. Let's get this thing going! Since I work a 'desk' job up there I'll have time to try and organize all this crap, and y'all know where to find me. If anybody's in the Sandusky area and can check on the lights for that park across from Bayside that would be REALLY helpful.

Jon I have said there should be a softball league for two years. Would management go for something like that though with a risk of injury and everything?

Well since it's off CP property and outside of work management doesn't have a say in it one way or the other. However it does raise a good point about the possibility of injury and liability. Basically if you get injured you're on your own to fix it (unless somebody intentionally unloads on you with a softball bat, then I think they would have to pay for it). So if you're gonna play, you might wanna make sure you have medical insurance or a lot of cash. Accidents happen. Real quick... the way I figure it could work is have a sign-up period, say for the first couple weeks of the season or whatever, when you can enter whole teams or just sign up to be on any team. Then me or whoever can draw up some schedules for the teams and we can have a jolly good time. :) Rules, etc will have to be decided on beforehand (sliding or not, point limit or innings, etc) by majority vote (probably on here) Supply your own equipment, etc.

Problem with using the field near the sandlot is lighting...

Chances are the City will want you to pay a fee for use if they need to have lights on..
