That's because millennials killed the 'Stand and get soaked on the bridge over a shoot-the-chutes' industry.
Very glad to say I got a ride on Snake River Falls. One time last week and one time today. It's up and running.
#SnakeRiverFalls 😊 #SuperDrenched 👍
The drop on SRF is nothing to flinch at, honestly. The few times I've ridden it, I've been reminded at how steep it is. On a hot day, it's indeed pretty fun.

I'm not sure if it's an exact replica, but while SRF remains the only attraction I have never ridden at CP, we did ride it's sister-ride (White Water Landing) at Dorney Park on a "before kids" road trip long ago. I recall being really impressed with how intense the drop felt. Good times.
On a side note, I have heard from a fellow P-Buzzer who has been at the park for about a week that there the waterfalls on Thunder Canyon are currently absent, and have been for some time.
Obviously Thunder Canyon isn't exactly a much-talked-about ride here, but I have gotten a kick out of riding it with my girls when they ask. But no waterfalls?
Oh well. Nothing a saltwater pearl can't cure!

It’s been quite some time since I’ve been to Dorney, but I’m wondering if theirs has had the same modifications as Snake River Falls. I know the SRF pullout/runout had some changes made, and also has magnetic brakes running down the drop. I don’t know when those changes were made, but it definitely neutered the splash. I remember the year it opened, it splashed so big, it would knock you backward on the bridge.
That's disappointing to hear about Thunder Canyon, and hopefully it's a temporary issue rather than a harbinger of its demise. That's one of the few rides we've been able to truly enjoy together as a family.

Kevinj, my son and I rode Thunder Canyon about 2 weeks ago or so. At that point in time there were two or three points where water from the side cliffs came splashing down on riders. Is that what you are referring to as waterfalls? If so, perhaps a temporary difficulty and not an extended closure like a certain triple launch ride.
I rode it a couple weeks ago as well and the waterfalls were definitely there.

By how you are explaining it I think yes; the fun of Thunder Canyon is that you never know who in the boat is going to walk away soaked and who isn't. Those who get soaked get absolutely pummeled by the waterfalls.
They have purportedly not been operable since on or around June 30th.

I'm not sure I even understand the point of the ride without the waterfalls. Sure, the rapids part is fine, but it's not much of a water ride if you don't get wet. And sure, you might catch a few waves over the side of the boat that soak your feet, but that puts TC about on par with the awful Shoot the Rapids.

^Other than the whole "the rafts don't flip over" thing, I suppose.

I rode Thunder Canyon last week for the first time in I don't even know long long specifically because I knew the waterfalls weren't on and I would get uncomfortably drenched. Our boat got one rapid that had a bit of water splash up and I walked away with a log flume level of saturation, which was exactly what I want on a water ride.
Thunder Canyon type rides can have their share of issues. I saw a June 28 news story of "Riders jump off Six Flags water ride". Roaring Rapids at Arlington, TX.
Was going to say that River Rapids rides have fairly notorious bad reputations when it comes to accidents.
