Snake River Falls not working also?

I don't see that.

Snake River is still down, on Monday they were welding in the underside of the hill and today there are still folks working on it. There isn’t any water in the pond either. As a side note Thunder Canyon has water and rafts running but the sign says it will not open today.

This is opening weekend for regular season hours. It is Memorial Day Weekend. Why can't CP get their rides up and running on time? This never used to happen. So that is at least 3 rides down this weekend, yet people still pour in the gates. I think it is totally unacceptable. I would not go in. I would go play goofy golf or something. I am sure they are still charging full price, however.

Eh, just 2 water rides and 1 coaster that we all knew would be down. Still an awesome day in the park. I still haven’t seen Windseeker running this year so you might be able to say 4. We’ve been in the back of the park all day so far.

Well, I was there today and you will be pleased to be told that SkyRide was operating! Well, not exactly. When I was walking underneath it around 1:15ish. It was experiencing some sort of difficulty and it was stopped with buckets full of guests.

Side note to JUnderhill: Yesterday (Friday) Windseeker was running with plenty of riders.

Skyride is operating at the moment but still no Windseeker, glad to hear it was open yesterday though!

JUnderhill, it might have been too windy to operate windseeker. If the wind is above a certain speed, they will not open the ride because of the cables on the tower.

The irony of that ride's name and it's inability to operate in the wind still makes me chuckle.

I know these issues are not a big deal for people who live close and have season passes. But, for those who can only go once a year it is not a good thing. It is treated as the new normal. These things are operational failures. The park people should have workers fixing the issues asap no matter if it is overtime pay or not. The park owes its patrons a better experience.

CoasterHawk, I would suggest filling out the contact us page on the park website or making note of it on the survey they usually send out after your visit.

I am not sure what happened with the water rides, they were working on Snake River Falls yesterday but Thunder Canyon was running rafts and had workers there but did not open. Overall I did not see any significant downtime on rides yesterday. Even after an evac on Maverick it was up about 30 minutes later. Millenium did have an issue earlier in the day and there was the usual protein spill or 2 to deal with.

My biggest complaint so far this season has not been with maintenance and ride uptime but rather the complete lack of efficiency at loading and dispatching trains. Being several weeks into the season and reaching the Memorial Day holiday I was hoping they would be hitting their stride by now. I guess stacking trains is the new normal.

Mediocre operations has been the new normal for quite a few seasons now, even pre-pandemic.

*Except Magnum.

Yeah that's really unfortunate.

Jake10,

If they can find me.

CoasterHawk, what do you mean by that? Usually, they will send a survey either in the app or by email asking how your most recent visit was. At least they did last year I’m not sure if they’re going to this year or not.

They are doing the surveys this year as well as I have received a few of them but it is not every visit.

Jake,

Prolly won't be going this year. I literally have no one to go with right now. And my truck was "made undrivable" by little miss druggie/drunken going 70 MPH down my one-way street with multiple state patrol units behind her.

I do miss those sky rides.

As what has been pointed out before, the operating season has been stretched over the decades. Up into the late 1970's, 1980's the operating season was from Memorial Day week end until two bonus weekends past Labor Day. Now they are open from early May until late October. They have shaved off at least ten weeks off the maintenance schedule. From what I have observed, they are having to do it with a full time maintenance staff that is not much bigger than it was in 1974. Should they hire more full time maintenance people? Yes, but as I can attest, being a retired ride mechanic, that finding the people with the skill set and qualifications for the job are not that easy to find now.

Anyone know if Snake River Falls & Thunder Canyon are open yet?

As of Tuesday, SRF wasn't but Thunder Canyon was.
