So glad you brought this topic back CPboy! I just want to share with everyone that I finally bought a shirt for Shoot the Rapids! Now I'm going to put somewhere on the shirt my first name so If anyone see's me they'll know who I am. :)
Shawn, I'm saying this as nicely as I can, please take it down a notch. It's great you like STR and all but I think it's becoming a bit overwhelming.

Hey I bought a STR shirt this year. But to be honest it was mostly because I was surprised they had them and in case the ride breaks again and they get rid of it hehe.

Shawn is the only one who gets wet just looking at STR. :-)
Post of the day!
Cedar Point guest since 1974
No problem with that! Someone has to give Shoot the Rapids some love!
Arms Down, Head Back, and Hold On!...Arms Down!...Arms Down......
I haven't ridden Shoot the Rapids (or any of the other water rides, for that matter; the days that I've gone to Cedar Point were too cool for that), but I find it fun to try and soak people with those geysers.
All jokes aside Shoot the Rapids is honestly a great ride but it could be alot more exciting and that's up to Cedar Point and Intamin to make those decisiona and to actually make those changes.Bash the ride all you want but let me tell you something, the crew members on Shoot the Rapids are well trained, perform their duties well, very funny, and kind to guests. The ride may have it's problems but that's because of the system that was installed on the ride during the off season. Proxy sensors are a huge problem as well, if a proxy doesn't reset the boat gets stuck on a lift and they can no longer dispatch. The ride goes down for 20+ minutes and then cycles are started again. All intamins have their problems, not just STR. Go bash another ride, please.
I don't think Shoot the Rapids gets enough love. I like the ride, it's very pleasant with a couple of nice drops, doesn't get you extremely wet and looks really nice. Maybe not the world's greatest water ride but far from the worst.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Did Shawn make another account to make it look like he's not the only one that loves the ride? ;)
No I'm right here. ;)
STR is a pretty good ride. I found the workers very nice, and funny. After the first hill, thee lap bar was really squeezing my leg down, kind of like on Maverick.

Putting aside what I don't like about it, it definitely has some pros. Like Windseeker, I find it to be a rather relaxing ride, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Thats not to say I love the ride, but ratherI like it and ride it when there are insanely long lines. I have to agree with Alex in saying that the lap bar does remind me of Maverick's restraints (and that is not a good thing). Overall though, its relaxing and I don't mind taking the six minutes every once in a while to sit back, and enjoy the ride.
