^depends on crowds/weather. STR does not get you that wet people. It's wetter than WWL but much dryer than SRF and TC.What's your definition of "that wet"? Last time I rode it water poured on us though the "canyon area". Is that shut off sometimes?
Anytime I have been on the water coming down from the canyons doesn't even hit me in the boat. I think the wettest part of the ride honestly is when you leave the station and the water hits you from the second hill before you enter the tunnel.
^ Agreed. Either that or when every one in the boat is bored of not getting wet and they start splashing eachother. It was very disappointing because I remember in the Point Cast for the ride they said you were going to be soaked. Never happenned to me unless I get hit by a water cannon that some one pays 25 cents for. But oh well. Maybe I just have bad luck, but I'm pretty confident going on it on a rather cold day.
I think a lot depends on where you sit. They tend to put me in the back of the boat and water seems to come in over the sides. The back is wetter than the front from my experience.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
It didn't used to be. Remember when the boats used to nose dive into the water, and spill a small tsunami into the laps of the front seats?
I think that year, it earned the nickname "Douche the Rapids"
It still does that. I rode it in June and it still dumped a huge amount of water in my lap in the front seat after the first drop. They did install a larger plastic "lip" on the front of the boats, so it is not as bad as it used to be.

Yeah, it's nowhere near what it once was. I rode a few weeks ago in the front, and it mainly splashed over the side and got my shorts a little bit wet, but nothing like the full on bath it used to give.
You mainly get wet in the very front or very back. I have to agree with Pete. I'm always a single rider because my one friend never wants to ride it. His excuse is that it's not 90 degrees outside and he doesn't need to get wet. Oh well, his loss...lol. Anyway, what I saying yesterday was you tend to get the wettest on the second hill the most.
I would love to see CP put some love into this ride in the near future! With need of a dark-ride, CP would have one heck of a layout to do something along the lines of re-theming the ride and enclosing all or portions of it. You could do anything in the enclosed part of the ride! Lights, story, theme, graphics, some kind of game, etc etc! Hell you really can't even see the ride itself very well from the midway, so why not cover it up?

Shawn, you only have one friend? I feel sorry for you. But you do have a smart friend.
No I have more then one friend. ;)
I think an interesting idea for this ride would be to give it a pirate theme. I think they could make the boats look like pirate ships and put a mast in the middle seat that is unused. Then they could put pirate theming throughout the ride and instead of water cannons they could be smoke cannons with cannon sound effects.

Theme an amusement park ride? Don't be ridiculous!
It already has a theme. I'm not sure that a different theme would be much of an improvement.

I like the idea of adding more themeing (static stuff, not animatronics) and letting the brush grow in.......not hard.

I don't think there's much that can be done to fix this ride. Paddlewheel excursions was more thrilling. I just look at it as a kid ride like Woodstock express and try to just accept it for what it is.. I can only hope that CP will one day add a traditional flume ride elsewhere in the park.
