I'm guessing its for the Progressive buyout cuz it's usually at Geauga Lake but since it's closed it's at Cedar Point now

Progressive could buy out Geauga. I don't think there's enough employees to warrant a buyout of CP. Didn't the Cleveland Clinic also buy out GL? Could 9/6/08 be a combined buyout with the large companies that used to go to GL?

I'm glad several people mentioned the fine print about the changes in dates and hours and the possibility of a buyout. I don't understand why some people get so bent out of shape over this. Even if the park is closed to the general public for the entire day, there are still plenty of other days for the general public to go.

Remember, having places like Cedar Point is a benefit to society, not a right. Be glad its only one day because it could be worse...has everyone forgot Geauga Lake already? :)

I don't know about in 2007, but they didn't in 2006, because I definitely accidently wound up there on that day...

Maybe it's me, but does that sentence not make any sense, Doug?

^ Makes plenty of sense to me.

He went there on that day, and was allowed in the park, which means that it wasn't closed to the general public.

I'm signing you up for reading comprehension 101 again, Bryan. :)

Poor grammar on my part, using two "-ly"-ending words in a row... but it still makes sense. :)

FWIW, I stopped at the Ohio Turnpike plaza that is just east of the I-280 exit in Toledo last night, and they had the 2008 CP brochures out. Sept. 6 is shown as being open noon-8 PM.

Now posted at the bottom of the Admissions page.

*Cedar Point WILL BE CLOSED to the public and all Season Pass Holders on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, for a private event.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

Yes. Cedar Point IS closed to the general public on September 6.

The Ohio division of American Honda bought-out the park for an employee event.

I work at Honda and we got this information passed to us today. Just thought I'd let everyone know so it would snuff out any further confusion.

Maybe I didn't make myself clear.

The Ohio division of American Honda bought-out the park on Spetember 6th for a private event. I know this because I work for Honda, and the employees recieved the information about the company event yesterday.

So yes, this would mean that they are closed on September 6...

-- The one, the only... ME!

I meant to say September 5th as well

Last edited by factory81,

We know they're closed on the 6th, I think we've established that. But now people here are saying the 5th as well?

Owner, Gould Photography.

Yes, if you go to the website...the 5th is also closed as well.

Challenge Park is open though :)

AllI wonder is how many Honda employees actually live with-in a reasonabledrive from Cedar Point and if Honda is including lodging / gas cards totheir employees. They must have several thousand employees willing tocommit.

This weekend is a slight bummer...likeI mentioned before. School is "back in session" but not in full effectwith exams so it is always tempting the first couple weekends ofSeptember to make a trip.

Also remember folks CP has not "taken a week away from us" because they are staying open one more weekend on the back end (Oct 31-Nov 2.) And I dont know about you guys but Halloweekends>>>>>>Bonus Weekends in my book.

Bonus weekends were awesome for riding. Halloweekends are busy.

So two days they aren't open...that really blows.

Well since their closed both the 5th and 6th they might as well be closed on the 7th also make it a weekend type deal. That's what the "bonus" weekend is for.

To be honest, I'll be more likely to visit the park that Sunday since many people won't see it as worth it. Hopefully it will be a very slow day.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
