That's going to be some bad news if the brochure shows them being open and they aren't....
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
I didn't even know the rack brochure was out. Here it is. And Corkscrew Headache is correct.

I wouldn't worry too much right now. That's just a PDF on their web site. It doesn't necessarily mean that it's actually been printed. A PDF is just one step in the process of creating electronic art. Hence their statement on the brochure page: "Our 2008 brochures will be available early next spring. All requests will be fulfilled at that time."
Not to mention different people are probably involved with creating the artwork, including the calendar, for the printed piece compared to the web site and probably get their information from different people at different times on top of it.
If it has been printed, it's awfully early for that and unusual (in general terms, I don't know about CP specifically) because print work normally goes right down to the wire (waiting for copy and approvals and last minute revisions) to the point where the printer completes it overnight and it still has to be folded, sometimes at another facility, then boxed up for delivery. The ink isn't even dry a lot of times on printed pieces, or at least has that fresh ink smell. If it IS printed with incorrect information, then they can put a sticker over it (which has to be printed 4-color process so it's unlikely) or destroy that batch and re-print them (more likely). In which case one that's snagged and isn't destroyed is a collector's item :)
Although it wouldn't hurt if someone emailed Cedar Point to alert them to the discrepancy that currently appears between their PDF and their Dates & Hours page. But even that page doesn't mention HalloWeekends yet when you roll over the dates.
The brochure looks different this year. Seems as though Maverick is the only coaster that really gets a full picture, the rest is family oriented.
"Families Rule at Cedar Point" = A lightbulb going off in someone's head. :)

I think this year's brochure is very nice. It reminds me a little of the brochures from the 70s when attractions like the CP&LE RR and Western Cruise were emphasized as much as the thrill rides.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
I realize there is a good chance that this is the Progressive buyout, and I know this is probably nothing more than wishful thinking, but since that weekend was "Joe Cool Weekend" last year, does anyone think that perhaps it may be a "Point Perks Only" day, where they only allow those with Point Perks in the park?
That would be fantastic...
Ok... back to reality...
Ripcord Crew 2002 / MF Crew 2004
Now THAT would be great. I'd put it at the bottom end of the "Likely List" but that would still be sweet.

I'm going to cast my vote for a mistake on the website and will most likely be corrected.

Ride on, MrScott!
^ That would be my guess also. They should feel good about it in one sense. For what other place would a bunch of people get excited or concerned about a future calendar date. I know it's driving me nuts not knowing for sure :)
(I also noticed the Family fun theme to the marketing in the brochure. Although they must be appealing to the Michigan market when they use the headline "Can you believe this is Ohio?" It's also interesting they mention the All Wheels Live show is right next to Planet Snoopy. I wouldn't think little kids & their families would be interested in that. But you could read anything into marketing copy)
Hey, maybe they'll send all the people who show up that day to Challenge Park for free. ;)

It doesn't look as though it's a mistake though.

I really do not understand why everyone is blown by the concept of them being closed for a day for a private event.

It's not because they're closed, but why it now says that they're open on that day in the brochure.
Okay, but I thought we went over this... It is likely that the brochure was put out prior to this event being planned.

At least we know now the web site has corroborated it's own info on separate pages. Has CP ever been closed to the GP for a day that late in the season?
The brochure art still may only be in the PDF stage like I mentioned earlier. Has anyone seen a printed brochure yet?

Precisely. Not to mention:
Cedar Point hosts numerous special events throughout the season. Whileparticipation in some events may be restricted to membership or clubaffiliation, Cedar Point is open to the general public on the daysthese special events are held (unless specifically stated otherwise).
Which, I think, has been proven by the statements made on the website regarding that date.

And if you look at the back of your 2007 season pass, it states:
"This pass is not valid during park buyouts or private events. Published operating dates and hours are subject to change. Please check www.cedarfair.com for individual park operating schedules."
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
On my way home from PA, I stopped at a Turnpike Service Plaza. There was no CP brochure in and amongst the other brochures there.
