Interesting... It's likely a buyout of some kind.

That doesn't seem right, open on Friday and Sunday but not Saturday? It has to be an error, atleast I hope so I usually try to go on the first weekend of September every year. And it's one of the few weekends that we actually stay onpoint. They aren't usually all that busy except for the Saturday that weekend.

Precisely, which is why if a buyout were to occur, this is the best time to hold it.

Uhm, that doesn't make sense. If Saturday is the busiest of the 3 days, why would you want to buy that one out? I'm thinking from a business owners standpoint. The busier the day, the more it costs (remember, you need to off-set their gate cost at least), so at least from a cost standpoint, Saturday is the worst day.
I was kinda looking forward to going that weekend too, oh well.

I guess that mostly eliminates the awkwardness of having only one "bonus weekend" this year... I hope they find a good way of advertising to guests that the park will not be open to the public that day. I can only imagine the fallout from lots of angry people showing up and not being allowed in.
Wasn't this the weekend of the boat show this past year? I wonder if that has anything to do with it, or if not, if the buyout will have any affect on the boat show. I suppose the likely scenario would be to have the show the following weekend on the first Halloweekend.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
I'm guessing its for the Progressive buyout cuz it's usually at Geauga Lake but since it's closed it's at Cedar Point now

But of all the Saturdays across the season, it's probably one of the least busy. And if it's a company that has employees who work Monday-Friday, that eliminates Friday. From some viewpoints, you wouldn't hold such an event on a Sunday (granting that it's a business buyout), whether it's due to your view on religion, work, family, etc. So, that leaves Saturday, and of all the Saturdays to choose, wouldn't you, from a Cedar Point standpoint, choose the one that is probably the least busy of the entire season? It actually makes a lot of sense.

No, the boat show ran through the weekend of the 16th, the first HalloWeekend.

It is kind of a bummer for those of us who go back to college but do not like to go during the later weeks when we have progressed in to the thick of the semester.
September 6..no one has massive amounts of homework / papers due.
Besides that...I can imagine it is expensive as hell to rent CP. Whoever it is...
I bet they won't even have to wait in lines for anything whoever it is. If they have 25k guests that say are an average of $50 they spend on tickets. The park would cost somewhere around 1.2 million to rent for a day.
That can't be good for the resorts that weekend either. I won't be staying onpoint that weekend if their closed on saturday.
I don't see why they would be closed. If a company is buying out the park they might have a deal with Breakers too.
Not to mention since the park is open Sunday, the resorts will have to be open to guests spending the night for the park on Sunday. And likewise they would be open for guests staying Friday night.

Ditto. I would be steamed to drive all that way just to be told to get back in my car.

Peace Love Hope
Still..it is a hassle and you guys raise many other "problems" that arise from CP not being open to the public on Sept 6th.
The resorts will feel it in the amount of guests staying there, and you know that people still won't get the message that they are closed Sept 6th. Without a doubt every entry gate will have to have police at them that day to deal with people who are upset about not being allowed in while others can walk right in.
TGI Fridays / Famous Daves will have a slow Saturday come Sept 6th....
Hopefully people will check the CP operating calendar on the website and won't end up like these people:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCijHVzFuP0
