Season Pass Multi-Scan

It takes more than a normal hand washing with soap and water, I find that I literally have to scrub my hand with a wash cloth to the point of getting some skin irritation from the rubbing. That, plus I just don't like walking around with ink on my hand. To each their own.

Same for me, the big red blob of ink that was supposed to be the TTD logo only came off after I used Goof Off on it along with excessive scrubbing.

I agree, the ink is really more like paint. It takes some effort to get it off.

I agree. I worked in admissions in 2014, and I liked Schroeder. Whenever it was his stamp day, I would stamp myself and it usually takes 3 or so days before washing off.

The absolute best way to remove handstamp ink: sunscreen. Just rub a small amount around the inked area, then wipe clean with a napkin.

^ I was just gonna say this. A couple years ago we all got a blue Lucy stamp. We went back to Breakers, had some lunch and a break then sunscreened and went back to the park. My son promptly wiper the back of his hand against his forehead, leaving a blue streak (no, not that blue streak) across his forehead.

I mean I understand it has to be strong, so someone can't feign the whole I had my hand stamped deal. They want it to live through sweat, some amount of water/soap, etc.

The only discrepancy I can see is other parks do let you scan your pass, and I'm positive CP does as well, but I just get a hand stamp. Wipe it off later that night or whatever, it just takes a minute of my time. Nbd

My two kids and I had an interesting experience last night regarding this thread. We were on our way out of the park about 11:00PM and I didn't intend to come back in, so we didn't get our hand stamped like I normally do. My wife had convinced me earlier in the week to renew our passes for 2017, so I thought I'd stop by the pass center on the way out to the car. Got out there and it was all closed up with signs on the doors and windows to go to guest services.

So, we head back to the gate to go to guest services. My daughter and I scan fine and walk through. My son's pass, however throws a "no re-entry permitted" error. After the gate attendant got his supervisor, who admonished me for not getting our hands stamped, they let us through.

My daughter and I have the old passes with the barcode. My son has the new pass from this year with the QR code. Perhaps that has something to do with it, but I will be getting our hands stamped from now on and not relying being able to re-enter on our passes.

My kids get hand stamps every time, even when there is zero intention of coming back in. They like to show off to their friends that they've been to Cedar Point.

I see both sides to this debate, but I still fall firmly within the camp against the requirement of getting hand stamps IF you are a passholder. I would personally prefer to just use my platinum pass for park re-entry. I agree with the arguments about the ink transfer and not wanting to broadcast to all the world that I've been to and/or may be going back to the park. Sometimes when we leave the park early, we don't know if we will be coming back, but we have to get stamps just in case -- then go about the rest of the day and interaction with the ink mark readably visible for anyone else to see. Sure, it is just a small inconvenience, but an inconvenience nonetheless.

Contrary to what some say, it DOES take considerable effort to remove the ink/paint when washing your hands (and it SHOULD -- nobody wants to wash away the hand stamp by accident in a simple routine hand washing that occurs outside of the park). I don't know how many times my daughter still has yesterday's hand stamp the next day even after taking her shower. It seems that the only sure fire way to remove a hand stamp (other than rigorous scrubbing) is a combination of sunscreen and sweat. (No chance of THAT mixture coming in contact with the ink/paint on a hot summer day).

One day last summer, I was visiting the park with friends in from out of town and staying at Breakers. One day consisted of early entry at CP, mid-day at Soak City (with a few instances of departing and returning) and returning to the main park in the evening. I am the only one in my family with the sun-burn gene, so a July afternoon at Soak City required heavy use of sunscreen with multiple re-applications. TWICE over a period of only a few hours I had to leave Soak City (and obviously get a hand stamp there) JUST to go over to the resort gate and ask them to RE-stamp my hand for my later expected re-entry into CP. This was solely because of sweat and sunscreen while in Soak City...

At one point, I had a park gate attendant advise me to avoid using sunscreen on my hands. I'm sorry, but that's not going to happen!

With all of those issues - I would MUCH prefer the ability to scan my season pass multiple times a day even if that means the gate attendant needs to verify that I am the person in the photo tied to my pass. If they are supposed to do that anyway when I enter for the first time on any particular day, what is the big deal about doing it again later that same afternoon or evening? I would even be willing to scan my pass on the way out just to document to the park that I had left and was gone for X minutes/hours before coming back inside the park - if that helped to avoid any question of fraudulent use of the pass by someone other than me.

They are already tracking/profiling when or how often I visit; what food I eat on the meal plan; how often I visit Dinosaurs Alive; what gift shop and non-meal plan food items I am buying at a discount and how much I am spending over and above my season pass rate; and even to some extent what rides I am riding and when based on my FunPix requests. What does it matter to me if they also track my exit and re-entry?

I don't deny that there may be flaws to my logic, but am I wrong here?

I normally prefer using pass to get in. The only advantage of stamp (IMO) is being a little quicker and you don't have to mess around with getting pass out each time. But, I would rather do that than have the stamps. many years ago, a friend and myself were there 9 days in a row. Once in a while we would return through a gate that the employees don't recognize us and they see this massive blob of unreadable ink on our arms. This was when most days they used the ulta-violet ink.

I once had plans (that unfortunately didn't end up happening) to call my kids and myself off from school and work "sick" to go to the park with family from out of state that were visiting. Obviously having left over stamp ink the next day would not have been good. I just get the stamp but I can think of plenty of situations when it can be a pain for someone.

At Knott's, season passholders don't need hand stamps. The downside of this policy, is everyone must present their admission ticket during readmission. So a one-day visitor must get the handstamp and reproduce their ticket. It's redundant for passholders to get hand stamps.

At Michigan's Adventure, I prefer the stamp when I use the water park. I'll scan my pass and then immediately get a hand stamp and go back out to my car. This way I can leave my wallet in my car to avoid getting a locker. I have a keypad on my car so I leave my keys in it.

A cotton ball, some non-acetone based nail polish remover, and 30 seconds is all that it took me to remove all traces of the stamp the last time that I went. I didn't see it as a big deal.

Nail polish remover is not something everyone has. I'm not buying some just to remove a CP stamp.

I find baby oil good for removing the hand stamp.

I've never had a problem getting a CP stamp off. Now, Waldameer's on the other hand. Theirs are designed to withstand a day at the waterpark.

I gave you a solution that involves a $0.93 bottle of nail polish remover. It solves your scrubbing and skin irritation issues. If you don't like that solution, or the baby oil idea, or sunscreen then I don't know what else to tell you. I understand that you and many others (including myself) do not like the ink but that is the way things are. Complaining about it to us isn't doing any good. Call the park, fill out a comment card, quit using re-entry. But until the park changes their policy either buy a bottle of nail polish remover or scrub yourself until your skin peels off.
